ok. as some people may know. i am currently working on a altered melee. here is a list of some of the features. i will be making several maps that are altered melee each with different terrain. mainly doing thias to work on my terrain skills but also because this will be very very fun to play. in my opinion atleast. here is the list of features --global events will strike down random players at certain intervals examples: a tornado may hit every 10 minutes for a random player in the map and demolish some of his units. a earthquake may hit you while you are on your way to go rush another player in the begining. a sudden uprise of creeps may give them the idea that its a good time to take over your town. you would have to defend against them. this could also be good if someone is attacking your city while the creeps come. because the creeps would attack them instead. healing rain may fall in a random point in the map every 10-15 minutes --added heroes examples: i will add one hero to each race. some custom spells will include shapeshifting, waterwalking, and maybe a matrix spell that slows down the game speed for everyone except casting unit. the later spell has some bugs right now so it may not make it into the game if they don't get fixed. --added units: examples: i will be adding naval units for each race. only problem is i am not sure if everyone has thier own naval units. i know orcs and humans do. either way this will be implemented. --indepth terrain examples lush forests, tall mountains, and valleys that go on forever. all this terrain and much much more will be included in my maps. i will be posting some screens below of my terrain for everyone to view. so the question is this. would you play this? or not? |

i don't like the global effects...imagine u'r under attack from someone, and suddenly a tornado pops-out from nowhere trashing your base to pieces :) it would be kewl if u were the attacking player but...i wouldn't want to be that poor guy :) the tornado, earthquake and cyclones are ok, but not in own base (maybe they should happen in the middle or not-in-base positions or something like that ?) i like the tranquility idea :) and not at all that creep uprise :) and that matrix can't be done :) at least not the way u want it made :) if u are going to slow-down everything except the caster try set speed rate or walk rate or movement speed to 60, and add casting time to ALL skills :)))) sounds fun, looks nice...give it a try :) |

thanx for all the feedback thus far. oh and just so you know the matrix spell is already created. it works exactly how i described. it slows down the entire game(even the waves on the water and the missle speed) except for the casting unit. its just buggy because some spells don't work after you cast the matrix spell. it's wierd. and thank you thunder-hunter for the comment on the first screen. its my favorite as well. |

it really works now ? man...i thought that it slows down the gamespeed for players, not units.....can u give it to me / describe what u did ? i'm lazy, i'll trade you some of my stuff :) and you'll get the credits :) |

i'll send you a map with it if you like. it is still buggy tho. you would have to fix the problems if you want to use it. and as for trading we don't have to trade just give me credit for it. but it's problem is with other trigger spells. for some reason if i cast a trigger spell while that is cast i can't use the spell. |

i don't prefer trigger spells too much....on the other hand, will it come handy in an Hardcore RPG map ? i'mean, there is 10 heros + 10 other units, we're fightning, and suddenly someone stops the game :) i'll be the first one to say WTF ?:) |

the game does not stop. it slows down. everyone still keeps doing what they were doing but it slows down the entire map. it also is not an easy spell to make at all. it envolves a lot of variables. one for each spell to be exact and also one for the heroes' stats and one for the heroes' level and one for the heroes' unused skill points. it is because to do this effect you have to replace the hero that cast the spell with another hero that looks the same but is actually faster. i woulda just used metamorphisis but i had a headhunter model and when he cast meta it would change him into a berserker. i didn't like that because the headhunter was skinned so it changed his body color when he cast matrix and he was supposed to be still the same unit. pissed me off and made it very hard. if you would like i can give you an easier way to do this spell if your guy can use metamorph without screwing stuff up. |

I'll agree with Shark on this one; having a natural disaster occur in your base would suck. Having a natural disaster occur and then migrate into your base makes a lot more sense, and it could sneak up behind a wave of oncoming attackers -- they thought they could retreat, but here comes ol' man tornado to rain on their hit parade! Matrix spell - I'd have to see it in action. Sounds fun, although a bit abusive. How long does it last for? Can it be interrupted? It'd be a lot more fair if it was a channelling spell, or ONLY worked on the hero. |

-Attn- SEE THE MATRIX SPELL IN ACTION ON TO THREAD LINK ON THE BOTTOM LINE OF MY SIG! IT IS THE FIRST POST THAT SUPRA GOD MADE THAT HAD A SPELL MAP! SEE IT NOW! As people above said- make natural disasters happen, then mabey migrate randomly around the map. As for the creeps, they could appear near a cave in a place near a map, which is near an expansion point. Anyways I would like this map. |
