Dawn of the Dead

I felt that a seperate thread was needed rather than cluttering my other map's thread.

Basically this is a zombie shooter style map. You walk around solving puzzles and gaining access to new areas like Resident Evil. This IS a multiplayer map, and you can play with 6 players. The difficulty is set at the start of the game and it basically goes like this...

Easy- Zombies respawn every 5 mins with half life, and bosses have 100% HP
You have 10 HP and 7 Bullets before needing to reload.

Medium-Zombies respawn every 5 mins with full life, and bosses have 150% HP
You have 10 HP and 5 Bullets before needing to reload.

Hard-Zombies respawn every 5 mins with full life, are faster, and bosses have 200% HP. You have 5 HP and 5 Bullets before needing to reload.

Suicide-Zombies respawn every 1 minute, with full life, and speed. Bosses have 200% HP. You have 3 HP and 3 Bullets before needing to reload.

After revamping from the old version I decided to make this one more action packed with more blood effects, unlimited bullets(still need to reload), and more zombies. :)

Item Descriptions and Completion List-

Flare(Completed): You shoot out a flare that stuns/slows nearby enemies and reveals ghost/spiritual units.

Rocket(Completed): More damage, splash damage, dead zombies. :)

Land Mine(Completed): Zombies step on this and die.

Steam Tank(70%, camera a bit buggy): You can run over zombies with this bad boy.

Gryphon (10%, still working on this): You fly around with this beast and take out enemies from the sky. *Note : The gryphon may not be in the map. :(

and many many more. I just listed the key ones.

The estimated file size is about 700 kbs (Has 2 music files). The map should be released next week if not this week. We were pushing for a Halloween release, but that doesn't look good so far. I am cramming hard on all of the goodies to get this up and running. :)

Oh yes, you will notice in the screenshots the replacement icons for gold and wood. The bullet is your ammo, and yellow cross your HP.

Basic Controls:
ESC- Switch weapon
Down Arrow- Reload
Left Arrow- Turn Left
Right Arrow- Turn Right
Up Arrow- Move Forward

errr... that's all the info I think... enjoy the screenshots!

*Me blowing up a rat, ehehe.

Screenshot #2. Yes behind the graveyard is empty right now. There will be a forest there.

Notice the dead rat there, and the blood coming out of the zombie. :) I am making it very bloody for your enjoyment. *There is a lot more blood when the zombie actually dies. ^_^

looks actually pretty original and fun. althought i would suggest one thing. make the rat a bit smaller. he is a little too big. unless that was intended.

looks very snazzy, try to get it down as soon as possible, I'm interested in playing it :D although, one question, to shoot enemies do you simply select them like that pointblank game? because I find that if you do that then people can easily just select all the units likes a box (selecting multiple units at once) I know that since they'll be enemies that it'll still only select one enemy, but still it can make the game too easy...I was just wondering if you're using this method or not?

Hmmmm I hope you tried it multiplayer testing on the net!
Cause from your control scheme... I foresee latency issues on multiplayer. I had this map I slaved on, and it was fine and all when I tested it. Then when I brought it to b.net everything just lagged up. Hopefully it won't happen to you!
Also, I don't know which method you're using to "shoot", but anyway I noticed that the guy you're shooting is always right in front of you, and that the rifleman is playing the animation. I infer that the rifleman has been issued an order? Well, sometimes orders take some time to execute, along with animation. May affect gameplay. *shrug*.
Also, if you turn to face everything you shoot... I forsee little annoyances here and there. Not much, but it could be dizzying. The solution is to just use triggers for damage and play animation (I'm guessing you didn't do this cause the pics show that you shoot the guy directly in front of you).
Also, you can post your method and all. There COULD be some problems I foresee (nothing major).
Anyway, I'll eagerly wait for your map release.

I have tested the map with 4 players many times, none of us had lag issues. Only due to one's crappy modem maybe, but controls were as they were tested in single. Yes you select the monsters to shoot them, they generally have low HP but HIGH life regen so they're hard to kill solo but will die quickly with your team around. The box selection thing isnt a factor, since this is more about your clicking / reloading speed. You gotta remember you will be fighting a LOT of zombies at once, plus undead dogs, wraiths (that can only be seen if someone has a scope), ghouls, tentacles, spiders, and plenty more which I hope will change gameplay greatly. When you shoot the riflemen simply faces the unit and plays an attacking animation while stopping his movement. When you select the unit he loses 1 HP though a trigger, not actual unit damage.

P.S Though the camera, looking, shooting may bug people (my testers thought it was cool) may bug people, than so be it. Legacies camera is terrible yet so many people play that. :P
