Interesting. What files did you import, was it just a .blp or did you import .mdx as well.

i had many similar problems with this as well but iwht the shadown hunter unit. except mine was the other way around. i tried to remove things or change stuff and it only changed in his portrait. not in the actaul unit itself. i will be watching this thread too because i really wanna know why that happens.

Portraits are different models, and sometimes they use a different skin than the model (Blizzard...) so you have to check what skins is using the portrait file, Usually the textures\ path may have those skin files.

Warcraft III viewer should do the trick : link

After many days struggling with this problem Ive finally found the answer, all the wc3 units, except a handful of lucky ones have 2 sperate skins, one for the unit skin and one for the speech portrait. The dryads speech portrait is in the ROC MPQ, and its in textures\dryad.blp, her skin file is in TFT MPQ, and its in units\nightelf\dryad\dryad.blp. You must edit both of these to look exactly alike and upload them in the same paths throught the import manager. Heres a picture of the final result.

BUMP! also wanted to tell you that its inconvenient on blizzard part because it makes the map a whole lot slower to download.

Sorry for reviving an old post, been away for a week with no internet access.

If you're worried about file size, why not just import the dryad skin under 'textures\newdryad.blp', then extract the portrait and model files, convert them to .MDL files, change the texture path in both of them to 'textures\newdryad.blp', then import them into your map. That way, you're saving alot of file space.
