selling models?

what do you all think about the fact people are selling models for points.

Personally i believe that its a good thing if its gonna increase the productivity of all theartist groups but what d'u think?

I think it should work like rewards, not selling. So if you release a good model, people should rate it if it's good, which would be your reward. And more people that like it/use it, greater the reward.

The way they have rating is good now, but it kinda excludes people who write tuts or give good advice.

It's not a system, Wolverine just started a trend of only doing models or skins for people if they pay some points (you can donate to other people thru shop). And they keep it exclusive so only people who pay can get them.

This sites had a revolution from communist to greedy Capitalist, and I don't particularly like it, but I'll still be giving my stuff freely anyway.

it is a bit silly but seeing as they are just points what does it matter? more ppl getting what they want...

i also sort of agree with the whole getting rewarded/reviewed by ppl and then maybe a mod giving points that might work better but i dunno....

who do you pay points and who do you get them to pay ?

cookie its not a proper system - the points have just beensent thru the store and then the model is given or vice-versa.

I dunot understand the value of this system. Having my name on a maps credit is much more gratifiant than some points on a forum i think.

edit : ok i understood :ggani: in my opinion that realy s**** because lets take the example of someone who just wants to start a campaign.. mh he needs some models / skinns that he cant do perhaps and then the day he starts he needs models / skinns that cost thousands of points and then during a whole year nothing ... and of course he dont have enought when he needs it and has useless points when he doesnt need it... I ll never ask points for any kind of work i do and if everyone asks points and i dont have them i ll leave this forum and post all my requests on other forums (and then wont answer the requests of that forum what will penalise "inocent" people from that site)

i ll stay to the credits system cause i dont ant "money" for my skinns / models but only gratitude with the credits.

finaly i wana add that i have 100 * more gratitude for the one who resolves my DEX problem or learns be doing billboarding that for people making me skinns ....

I probably missed something here regarding points system...oh well.....best bet to get help is to meet me at mirc regarding billboarding if I have the time.

Dex issues shouldnt be a real issue, as reps tutorial is pretty straightforward. perhaps sending the 3ds to me I can try and check the error kind you have (or contact republicola on mirc, he is Dex creater ) :ggani:

i odnt think the reqard way would work cause then if som,eones realy greedy and realy like the model they wouldnt donate but if you sell it they have to pay.

If someone really liked a model, but wouldn't reward the maker, he would be a bit sad. But it wouldn't matter at all because other people would be rating it. The differences between selling and giving is, You would want as many people as possible to get your work and your reward would be related to how good the work is and how many people appreciate it. With the selling, makers want it exclusive and people have to pay wether they like it or not :bgrun:

If you go to the art request forum you will see all the peoples selling threads.

It doesn't really matter to me though, they can sell, I will give.

as far as i said points have no sense for me i ll pay as long as i have and if i dont have any more i wont ask for my models but will simply ask anywhere else... and thats not a goal of an artist ...
but in that world if something is free there s always someone to find a way to make people pay...
