I'm having a problem...

I'm trying to create a new unit for the hell of it, a pandaren blademaster. I don't really know what's involved with making these units, but I've managed to make the model in 3d studio and get it skinned and all.

Now that I've finished modelling the blademaster, I'd like to at least place it in the game to see how it looks, without any animations, if it's possible. Regardless, I need help on where to go next and what to do.

I've tried adding my model in .mdx file format to a map through the import tool, with no success. I've also converted it to .mdl, but that did nothing, also. I have the skin in .blp format, too.

I'd just like to know where to go next, because I'd like to make this model.

Also, if you mention any programs I'll need, I would really, really appreciate a link. I already have some, but most that I've used crash my machine save for TechMPQ and the Warcraft 3 Image Exporter

Thanks.

Sorry to get your hopes up but I can't help you. I would like to say that that is an awsome model though. Good work

I'd really like help with this - I've created another model now that I can't get to work ingame.

I've taken a look at other people's models and they just seem to import the file, lead the path to war3imported/myfile.mdx and it works. I don't think I'm making my .mdx file right, or packaging it right. Also, when I open the model I've made in warcraft explorer, it doesn't seem to lead to any skin in particular.

I'd really, really love help with this, it's driving me crazy and I don't know what to do. I've changed paths, I've put files into the mpqs, everything. I think that my problem's in the mdx making, but I just don't know.

Thanks.

First, make the max file into a mdx. Then skin it. Then open up the importmanager and import the mdx. Set the peasents model file to your imported one (can be found ind the unit editor) then you save your map and then u open it again. Now you should be able to see it.

I dont know how to get the skin on it.

Make sure the texture path, as specified in the heading of your MDL, is pointing to the texture you have imported. Also, saving, closing the editor, and reopening can alleviate some problems of not showing up.

I've used KMK's export/import MaxScript plugin to export my model from 3d studio max in .mdx format, and I've also put my skin in the .blp file format.

When I import the .mdx and .blp file, they go to 'war3imported', which is where I would expect them to. My problem that I have then, though, is when I set a unit's model file to the one I've created (i.e. war3imported\wardancer.mdx), and then try to place a unit, I get the message 'Could not load war3imported\wardancer.mdl', or something very similar. I get the tiled-green-and-black box indicating a lack of a model. It's driving me nuts...

I've tried saving and reopening, too. but it doesn't seem to fix anything. And when I run the maps, there's just a shadow where my custom unit was placed.

Ugh.
