Help with models!

first, sry if this is in the wrong spot. move it if it is piz.

second: how do i use the models from metalplanet.org?? i have them downloaded and inported into the editor but it says it cant load the model. the model is the alien male from clotaire.

help piz.

first if you import a model and then place it on the map it wont appear in WE. You have to close and reopen world edit to "load" your file on the startup. But if your model doesnt show in WE you still can test your map and if you did all right it will show in warcraft (even if you did not restart WE)

second if it doesnt solve your problem make sure you have ALL of th requied textures in the right place (to know all the textures that are used you can use Youg's file converter, a hex editor or whatever you want or if you take the model from war3editor you havcea readme file into the ZIP and look at the line Textures)

if it still does not work tell me witch of the aliens you downloaded cause clotaire made 2 (the 1st or the second on that page ?) and i ll try

it keeps saying that it could not load (filename).BLP

but the file is an mdx file not mdl??

i tryed to convert it but it still didnt work

it always says canot load mdl even if you are using mdx files cause mdx files are compression of mdl files so it tries to uncompress it and then says that it canot load it so always put mdx files never mdl into maps...

it perfectly works...

you just have to put the textures in the Textures\ directory , the AlienMaleAHeadA.mdx at the map's root and the AlienMaleA.mdx wherever you want and it has to work ... look at my sample map i send you if it still does not work...

mh the archive seems to be domaged cause too big ... :(

try just to put your files in those path and to asign to a sustom unit the model AlienMaleA.mdx


Textures\AlienMaleABodyA.blp
Textures\AlienMaleAHeadA.blp
AlienMaleAHeadA.mdx
AlienMaleA.mdx


note : your file AlienMaleA.mdx can have any path but you must put the other at the path i specified !

so what ur saying is that i have to put the files in a folder called "textures" which is in the main war3 folder??

and i have to make the files's names the same as you said?

no what i gave to you were the path you should type in the import manager (or in winMPQ) for your 4 files
(thats inside your w3m / w3x file)

In the import manager, right click on each file and select "Modify File Properties"(or something of that nature). Then check off "Use custom path" and enter the apporpriate path. As stated before, your paths would be...

Textures\AlienMaleABodyA.blp
Textures\AlienMaleAHeadA.blp
AlienMaleAHeadA.mdx
AlienMaleA.mdx

no problem ... I ll tell ya what to do so that you ll be able to do it on your own next time :

you convert both mdx to mdl and look at the § textures the path of the BLPs (if it is not in the readme file) and at the § atachements you look at the path of the Alien's head (cause that was not specified) and then you put all the files into your map at the specified paths...

loool you cant speek french... you just have to click the button "Alien Male" and then save the zip
