ok so i converted heal to an item ability where it costs 1 mana and heals 10 damage, and then i base an item off of the dagger of escape so it will be permanent with a cooldown and give it the heal item ability. And then it doesn't work. You can set it to autocast and you can select it but like the Force of Nature spell turned to an item ability it just doesn't happen. Is this just the editor sucking or am i ignorant of some WE fact? Aside from this, ideas how i might make it work? |

Why not just use a potion, make it unperishable, set the cooldown time. I dont believe that unit abilities can be used by items anyways. |

i made a custom item ability from a unit ability. So it's like an item ability. It just doesn't work for some reason. So if you make it unperishable then it's no longer charged and then you set the cooldown time and it should work? OK I'll try it I've got a feeling it won't work either, since it's basically what i have already. Unless there's something weird about daggers of escape for some reason. |

Fine i will go into detail since you dont believe me. 1-First in the object editor select a Potion of Healing, 2- Select the Perishable, make it false 3-Set Number of Charges to 0 4- Set the cooldown to what u want. thats it. Run the map. Trust me it works! I made a made if you want it. |

didn't work. do you think it's something i did when editting the ability? |

Just dl the map and look at the Great Potion, or run the map to see it in action :)/ |

right so i have what you have except instead of the ability "item greater healing" i have a custom item ability based of the Heal unit ability spell and it doesn't work. I think it might just be that taking certain spells and making them item spells doesn't work for some reason. I tried making a charged item with the same ability and it also wouldn't work so it must be the ability itself that I'm using. I can't think of anything that i did to mess it up i just changed some of the numbers around. This leads me to believe that the Heal spell doesn't want to be an item ability. |

Items cannot cast autocast spells for some reason, i suspect it just turns on/off autocast whenever you click it, and it never actually activates. other autocast spells like bloodlust, abolish magic, etc also have a similair problem when stuck onto an item If you really want, just base it off some non-autocast heal spell like divine light and it should work perfectly. |

yeah i was thinking that i could do that. I could also make the item a spellbook with different sorts of healing methods like Apply Gauze, Staunch the Flow of Blood, Apply Leach, Cauterization, Wrap A Lot of Bandages Tightly, etc. Or i could just make a spellbook with the heal ability in it. |

If you aren't planning to have undead there you can use holy light |

well there are undead but i could take "enemy" out of the targets. The thing is i already have a holy light type spell for an ultimate. I don't want the same graphics and noise (can these be editted for holy light to make it look like heal?). I could always make a dummy ability and use triggers i suppose. |

You can edit other abilities to work like heal. Could use healing wave, setting the number of bounces to 1. Rejuvenation, setting the duration to 0.01 or something like that. or edit stormbolt, firebolt, ice bolt, hurl boulder etc. to have negative damage and target friendly units. probably some others i missed, but holy light itsn't the only other heal spell. |
