Which game type is your favorite? I'm just wondering, incase I ever decide to work on a map of my own again. |

All game types suck, the only good maps are the original ones... |

That is so true...well in someways...I think there are three types of Maps. Maps made from other maps, Maps based on map types, Maps combining many map types, Maps based on map types with original ideas and the truly original maps who define their own genre. The problem is a lot of people think all the creative ideas are taken so they just base a map off someone elses. I hate all the 'mauls' and 'footmen wars' that appear because people just make maps from other maps (example 1) maps based on map types like Dota and ToB based off AoS they were good, but are becoming somewhat repetitive(example 2). Maps combining ideas have been surfacing more recently however people seem to cram the wrong ideas into a map not really thinking about what will happen, it's like sticking a bunch of ingredients into a test tube, a lot of them end up with water and potassium(which is bad) this is example 3. Example 4 are good, they usually come up with good ideas which are placed in pre-existing maps...it's like, just incase the idea doesn't work, at least you've got a nice example 2 map to play. and the final, example 5 which is a dangerous kind, it either becomes super popular, or flops...it's a gamble really, unless proper consideration and time has been put into a map with original ideas then it just doesn't really work out properly. For example, Breed, currently in this forum. The guy just released a beta, I tried it on b.net, it was an 'interesting concept' to put it nicely. It had some things that I really liked, I definately saw potential but overall he just made bad decisions because I think, one he didn't think it out properly, he just jumped in and started making it, and two, the previous was made even worse because I don't think he was very experienced with mapmaking on a whole. No offense to the guy if you are good (:P) but it's just, the map overall wasn't good enough. So that's basically what mapmaking boils down to in my opinion. So that's my 2 cents for this thread. |

i find balthamos to be fairly correct, but he missed a certain aspect. Most truly original games are either similar to breed in which the person had a great idea but assembled it poorly, or the person had a great idea and put it together spectacularly. In the latter case, it takes one of two things: a) a lot of people working on the same thing, or b) one person working for a very long time which sometimes results in the game becoming outdated before it's released. Both are very difficult to do. Personally i prefer 'truly original' games without so much crap, bugs and/or unbalances in them that i lose interest. |

Voted AoS, I like to have a hero to level up, and use his skills to defeat the other side :) But no crappy overpowered **** games like Hero Sieges, where u need 20000000 in every stat to complete it...they suck :P AoS all the way :) |

I'm always game for a multi-player (at least 2) RPG - if they're done well, and aren't just "Oh, help us kill the beasts in the woods... ok, now you can go on to town two" linear monster trawls. Having more players involved *can* make it a lot more fun, so long as nobody's a real jerk. Basically, I treated your poll like a wishlist - I'd enjoy a good RPG more than I would a good type of any of those other maps. However, the odds ain't good. |

I like RPG, but there really is not many good ones out there at all. Most of them have no storyline, and are just you running around killing your guys. If there was one game with an amazing FF story line and a cool battle system then I would be playing it, but since there is no really good WCIII RPGs I have to vote for AOS style maps. |

I like RPGs or Action games, where you have to level up a hero and things, to kill people. |

A well made single player campaing is the best IMO. I love the blizz campaigns and the custom ones which have the same high standards. |

Can someone tell me what bad descions I made in making it? (Breed) And how it wasn't well thought out? Or anythings you would like to see or not see in the next version? |

games like tides of blood and escape maps(Prison escape, scary forest,....) are my fav, and some tower defs are well made (cube def own) but if there are 10 or more copies of a map , see footman wars, it becomes boring :nono: the other good things are the standard games , 2 vs 2 rocks ( WOHOO I GOT THE FIRST NE ICON :ggani: ) |
