It doesn't matter on the amount of maps, if you're just making them to get to the desired size. Quality is much more important, so make exactly what the story calls for.

Blizzard's Bloodelf campaign was the shortest, but, in my opinion it was the best one of every other made by blizzard. So please, give it the number of maps you need for the story and make a quality campaign

Levels/Number of maps should have nothing to do with it. You need enough maps to create a complete story line that is enjoyable. Sure you can add a extra side quest map in to get a break from the game play or to get specail items. But you really need to take quailty over quanity. I would much rather play a 2 maps good campaign that a piece of crap 20 map campaign.

I don't think it is the number of maps that matters, but the quality. I'd rather have 5-6 really well done, well detailed maps than 11-12 extremely crappy ones. It all depends on the work you're willing to put in to it. More maps does not make a campaign better.

I agree completely. This is excelllent proof that a campaign doesn't need to be long for heaps of character development and a powerful story.

For singleplayer campaigns, story is key. I would reccomend actually writing the story on paper/computer before you do any mapmaking. Compare it to stories you see in novels that are of the same genre. When you think about it, a campaign is an interactive novel.
