Amazing World-edit Discovery!!

I discovered a way to put the main menu 3D interface objects in any level for world edit. If you don't know what I meant, I'm talking about those 3D places you go when you play single player mode or start up warcraft 3. These places include the frozen throne intro or the Orc Warrior at barrens, or the Night elf archer at the forest, even the blood elf spell breaker at the outlands (the areas you choose a campaign mode level) To get these 3D places on your map, open the object editor.

How to get them on your map while in world edit: Click on art-model file. Once you have the box open, select game interface on the top of the window. Cycle through the list of objects until you see the 3D places themselves in the 3D viewing window at the left side of world edit. (Make sure the object you are changing is already placed on the map to make the job easier) it is recommended that you change a building instead of a ground or air unit. Once you have changed the model, the 3D object will then be on your map!

Use camera and cinematic triggers to get new views of the 3D locations.

Attached is a file showing you what the 3D places look like in world edit. The first image is the mainscreen for warcraft 3 non-expansion. The second is the mainscreen for warcraft 3 frozen throne. The last is the night-elf main screen for normal warcraft.

Do I understand what your saying correctly? That is, the background renders can be placed in the world editor and viewed in game via the engine?

If thats what you mean, I wont beleive it until I see it. I mean, thats impossible. Those are RENDERS, not real-time animations that can be played via the game engine and viewed via any angle you choose. Theyr all hi-res pre rednered images. So, even if they were assembled using the WC3 engine, they still wouldnt work properly in real time.

Maybe Im wrong, but like I said, I wont believe it til i see it. Wheres the attached file?

The glues? I think people already know about this... I was psyched the first time I found those too though.

If you're interested, I think people have ripped out some of the model data from these glue screens and created their own doodad models... there was a nice Banzai-looking tree that was done that way...

(EDIT)Yeah no they're not pre-rendered, they're all .mdx files

You're both WAY behind the times. Dude, this was done back in the BETA for RoC. And no, they are not renders, they're just models with a bunch of poly's.

Not amazing, just old :nono:

OK First, believe it or not the 3D backgrounds are real all you have to do is change the model of a unit in the object editor in world edit.

More "Specifically" as whats his face said, when you are in the object editor in the world edit program, select a unit and goto: Art - Model for that unit in the object editor. Double click on it and change the top menu bar to . Now goto the next bar below, cycle through the list until you see one of the campaign mode menu 3D places on the small viewer window to the left (the one that shows what you have selected) then hit OK and go back to the terrain editor and place the edited unit on the map. TAADAA you have one of the 3D places ON YOUR MAP. Geeze do I have to get any more "specific" than that?

Its that simple, and this feature "does" work.

As for the guy who said it was used before, FYI I never played the beta version of TFT, and I've never seen a map before on the "full version" of TFT with this new feature on it.

The model for Arthas with the cape at icecrown that Ligature wanted is: UndeadBackdrop_V1(Default) [found in ''game interface'' when replacing a model]

(NOTE: Many of the selectable things in the game interface menu for models are "invisible" you'll have to cycle through the menu a bit before you find the any of the 3D models.)

He was meaning that the title wasnt specific enough, not the post itself. Next time you throw a wobbler on the forums dont doubble post its so annoying.
