Regarding art tools...

First, the downloads for models have been moved back again to the models forum. The inability to post models on the download forum and the fact that Electro kinda resigned from downloads forum, made me into this decision to bring the forum back where it was supposed to be: model forum. You can upload things freely now there, so go do it now =)

A few facts to straighten things out:

- First of all, here is a mirror link to the art tools in case you dont want to be old before your download started on those official fileservers. Muco thnx to Republicola and of course Stoned

- The art tools were released for advanced mapmakers and modders. If you do not have 3d studio max 4.2 / 5.0 you will not find any use with it.

- It has been confirmed by Republicola and Piata (both respectable modders who are proficient in 3d studio max) that the art tools plugins DO work on 3d studio max 5.0. However, 3d studio max 6.0 will NOT function with the plugins.

- Posting warez link, talking about warez regarding pirating 3d studio max in the open is NOT tolerated on the forums.

- Be glad they even released this, regarding to the whiners who are demanding a 3d tool as well. Blizzard is a step further now on mod friendly-ness (alright, they could had used g-max but if you used that tool for a while you will find out that g-max is too limited, besideds college students gets a huge discount on 3d studio max)

- To save space you can compress your tga files into blp with the use of image extractors etc (for the newcomers)

Have fun modding

To further add, they work in 5.1 as well. At least as far as I can tell.

These tools are fantastic!

I couldn't get my model to work ingame, now I can get animations WITH particle emitters and everything to work!

One thing, has anyone tried getting skin modifiers to work with the new tools?

Skin modifiers will not be acknowledged by these tools. If you read the documentation you will see that it requires you to break apart your mesh.

yeah, I've done that, it works fine, but it results in unslightly gaps in the joints of limbs and such, it makes it look very odd

You have to flag them properly using the property editor, as well as making sure the vertices are in the exact same place at frame 0.

also, you need to preview it in the Previewer tool, as opposed to MAX's animation preview
