Hello everyone....
I am a big fan of WC3, but i've been quite busy lately. I finally have some time to do my own stuff! I am a professional game artist looking to make some great new models/textures/animations and expand my portfolio.
Anyone know where and interesting MODs are? I'd LOVE to help!

I moved this to the correct forum.

Interesting.... Could you show some examples of your work please? And what experience do you have exactly? Games worked on?

Welcome, I would like to see some of you work too :) and you could start by helping some people with models and skins (/end hidden motive)

My signature links to my portfolio. You can find any info on me there.
*Note*
The only thing currently up to date on my site is my resume. The work I've done in the past two (2) years is currently unavailable. The games I've worked on during the last two (2) years have not been released yet. December will warrant a big update to my site.

but this is my latest personal work.

Very impressive work there Losdef.
We see you have a certain quality that we at Realm Design would be interested in. I say come to our forums, have a look at our projects and come on msn if you have it and are interested. My msn is [email protected]

Hope to hear from you.

Indeed, your work is most impressive. If you have't already been snapped up by the big guys, us little timers would more than welcome your expertese to help us in our modding efforts.

Alright....I am a new member to these boards. I'm not sure I understand what WhiteHorn and DnStalker are implying. If what you're saying is you'd like me to share info/techniques, then sure....point me to where help is needed. I don't get the whole "snapped up by the big guys" comment. Are you implying that once I join onto a MOD team, then I would no longer be able to help others? Is that some unspoken (or well known) rule of thumb around here?
Wolverine, I found my way over to Realm Design's forum. You guys look to be making some great stuff. I haven't actually done all my "homework" on the restrictions of the new art tools, so bear with me here. Is it possible to create custom animations for new models? Or are the new models dependent on the already existing anims? I'd love to get crakin' right away.....I'm bored.

It is good to see some new people here, especially when they are without a doubt a talented modeller. I'd really love to see what kind of work you'd be able to do for the "Mythrin: From the Ashes" campaign, its quite an ambitious campaign with a heavy plotline which will have a number of twists and turns, so i feel it has a great deal to offer even for a modeller who could shape new characters to the plot and give them a bit more attitude than many other models out there.

In any case, feel free to check out our post on this board and get back to me if anything there sounds interesting to you, i'm quite sure you'd be completley capable of modelling our Ancient dragon and several other things we need new models for.

Look forward to hearing from you soon :D

P.S. No, it isn't usually the case that you can only work on one project at a time around here, in fact, most people (especially modellers and skinners) spread their expertise over a number of projects.

DnStalker Realm Designs is like Microsoft Windows. It sets the standard, but doesn't share the source code.

We, we are like Linux. We work for each other and share our efforts.

Well, at least that's how I see it.

j/k.

Well, if you want to join something big, pro and get under the wing of the admins, RD is the way to go, they are pros afterall.

I spent alot of time sunday just looking through the current projects. There are so many MODs going on....it's bordering on ridiculous! I dunno....maybe some of you all should work in a more collaberative manner? But hey, Iwhat do I know really? Doesn't seem to a shortage of custom games on Bnet, so I guess many of you are completeing what you start. Anyhoo...I've decided I don't want to be a member of any group here at wc3campaigns...Sorry. I will remain a free agent so-to-speak. I think I may get too involved and fall back into playing regularly if I actually joined a team. But, that does not mean I don't want to make models. In fact, I think I will be able to make many more this way.
I have a couple of ideas I'd like to toss out there.

1) There are "Hey-can-someone-make-me-a-grunt-with-crossbow!!??" type threads littered all over these boards. Why not start up a "Requests" forum where these could all be consolidated?

2) There is no "models" forum in the downlaods area (unless, again, I've missed something). A "models" forum in conjunction with the requests forum would most likely create a huge increase in custom models for everyone (share the source code, right WhiteHorn?)

Well....there's my two cents. I going to go patrol the boards now to find some models to create! :ggani:

There is a request forum, Look in the Artist's General Discussion & Tips
and there is a request subforum.
And you're right about not joining a group, I've just started planning a campaign and the amount of time i've spent on wc3 has decreased dramatically.
And if you need work to do maybe you could help me put with something? ^^
At the moment I am looking for some Naga models and skins that are original, Do you think you could help me out with some of them if I tell you what you need?

Well, I spent my free time today reading over the technicalities of the War3 art tools. Made it pretty far. I covered how to build, skin and animate a model for War3. Here is the model I made. (requires VET)
I couldn't find ANY concrete information regarding poly limits, so I looked at the files provided with the art tools and decided that 500 would be acceptable. So, this model is 500 polys. It's broken up due to the animation processes, but I'm sure many of you already knew about that. No texture yet, but the UVs are all setup for painting. The animation system, while losing out on IK, really raises the bar with the easy-to-weight setup. Kudos to the developers of these tools.
Tonite/tommorrow...animation.

Now....If I were to start a "Losdef works in Progress thread", where exactly would be the correct area to place it?
1) Artists' Corner > Artists' General Discussion & Tips
2) Artists' Corner > Modeling & Animation
3) Artists' Corner > Modeling & Animation > Models Gallery

And oh yeah....What's the deal with the Points and/or Gold system around here!?
