Very close to releasing...

I'm getting close to releasing a map called Ring Wars.

No, it's not another crappy LOTR map. The map was actually starterd before any of the LOTR maps. I've taken Freak's adive, and I looked back at some old maps I had in my closet and I took out Ring Wars. I had almost forgotten it and it was almost done! With my vastly inproved triggering/terraining/TFT editor, I've improved everything a whole lot. I'm gonna release this map on tuesday (And of course by tuesday, we mean friday, because of delays :D) , and I just wanna know what you think of it before I release it.

Here's the deal.

There are 4 players, each with his own gold mine.

He has 3 other structures besides the mine, which are, Gem Processing, Ring Forge, and Ring Warrior Training.

Gem Prosessing Takes the gold which miners (Trained from the ring warrior training) take from the Mine. When you get a deposit of gold, you have a chance of getting a gem mixed in with the gold. Here are the gems in order from Most common to rarest.

Sapphire
Emerald
Ruby
Diamond
(These are shown on a leaderboard)

You can use the gold you get in the mines to train warriors and to forge rings. Each warrior has an inventory. Certain rings are more powerful then others, and almost all of them require gems.

The object of the game is to destroy the other people's ring forges and smiths. If the smith moves away from the forge, it can no longer produce rings.

Using the rings on the warriors you must go in and crush the enemy. However, certain rings work better on different people. For example, the Wizard's Ring (500 Gold, 2 Sapphires) will give a boost to mana and mana regen, as well as NEW SPELLS to the Sorcerer, Enchanter or Wizard who is wearing it, but will NOT give the spells to Warriors or Archers...

Speaking of Archers, here's the units that can be trained from the Ring Warrior training Center, the models are in the paranthesies

Warrior (Footman) , Royal Guard (Blood Elf Lieuteinut) , Knight (Garathos)
Sorcerer (Priest, Reign of Chaos), Enchanter (Priest, The Frozen Throne), Wizard (Blood Mage)
Archer (Blood Elf Archer) , Ranger (Night Elf Archer), Sharpshooter (Sylvanas Windrunner)

You can also Train miners, and a ring smith, once yours dies.

The terrain is nothing special, don't expect much on that count.

That's pretty much it. Oh and the spells will be trigger enhanced :ggani:

Yea i would play it, I just think that it might get a bit repedtive after a wile which may may it boring, but its seems pretty fun. I like the whole gem idea something orignal for once :D so yea... im looking forward to its release

Good, though it's going to be like a string of maps, all on different terrains, I mean i'll only release 1 map at a time, but they'll get bigger, with better terrain, more units, and stuff, but this is the preliminary, and the first map featuring this system.

BTW: I just finished the trading system... yey me! Let's hope it works as I test the map, now!

Uhm that name is already taken.

And? There are quite a few different rings wars... one won't make any difference... besides, I came up with the name before the maps were made :ggani: . Though that makes no difference, I suppose you're right, maybe I should change it. Any ideas?

What about "Rings and Warriors" or "Ring Maker Wars"

What do you want screenies of? The terrain isn't going to be that special, there are no custom skins or models, it's just an original idea... Ok ok fine, I'll get you some... of just your base and stuff... Oh and btw, that title is leaning in the right direction, but it doesn't feel right... any other ideas?

Ok here's a screenie of my base, with me mining, the 9 units up top, with my ring smith down the center, the training place on the right, ring forge, in the center, gem processing on the left.

Ring Wars and variations thereof would probably be a -bad- idea for a name. You probably didn't come up with the name first, since I know that at least one the Star Craft LOTR maps was named 'The Ring War' or somesuch (It did have Ring and War in the name, at least) waaaaay back before Warcraft III was released.

Anyway, maybe you could use some sort of variation of:
Rings of <Something>: Rings of Might, for example.
Perhaps something like The Ringlords, The Ringwielders, The Ringmasters, etc...?

You could also just call it... Rings!
That's right, just plain 'Rings'. It gets the point across, while avoiding mixups with LOTR maps.
Just add a good-sounding subtitle, and you're set. For example:
Rings: The Eternal Conflict
Maybe Rings: For Blood and Glory?
Rings: Of Wizards and Warriors?
Rings: Glittering Prizes (Anyone remember that from WC2?)
Rings: Eternal Conflict, etc, etc...

There's a bunch of ideas.

Rings is a good name. Has a nice ring to it. :////

Erm.... this post is 20 days old... I think you're gonna get flamed... oh well. I didn't finish this, because it's wayy too laggy. I'm on to an MMORPG right now... my hard drive just got fried, so I couldn't continue the map if I wanted to anyway :( . I'm into design at the moment, and it looks pretty good. I just hope I'll be able to finish it :D )

Very good! Don't stop with it now! Go for it! I voted for yes that i would play the map! I think it's a nice idea a way much better than all the other LotR(-bnet) out there!:D :D
