importing

i know this is prolly a really noobish question but how do you import ur models into map? i made a truck right... so in 3ds max i go export select .mdl\.mdx (used the bliz tools) and no errors except no skins or animation but those arent real errors... so i put the new fully fuctional .mdl and .mdx in the folder wacraft iii\units\human\truck\ and then in WE i change the path of any unit to units\human\truck\truck.mdl but when i try to place i get the evil green box and it say .mdl cant be found, so i try opening in wc3 viewer but when i click on my model i get an error... I know that the prob isnt no skin or anim because ive used a lot of animationless and skinless models (from other people) so what am i doing wrong? oh yeah i have 3dsmax 4.2

Well, I have the same problem and it has something to to with no texture. There are material errors, aren't? You must set the team color.

ok... so does just draging a texture on fix it? i already tried with textures... didnt workemote_confused

I think thats something blizzard does not thing about. My doodads have teamcolor, too....

ok... well, ive tryed that, (adding the little replacableID line in .mdl right?) but i cant get it to work, so can you walk me through it step by step?

You do not have to work with the mdl anymore. You can do this in 3dsmax directly, but i do not have a realy working model on my own. Ready the document which comes with the tools. There a chapter about it. My english is not good enough to work through it.

OK, now I have a working model. Without texture but you can see it in the game with the doodad(!) team color.

ok... so how would one go about doing this texture thingemote_confused i read the .pfg (edit: lol .pdf) and did exactly as it says... the previewer looks fine but nothing works outside 3dsmax :(
