^^ Is that a Blizzard announcement or just a prediction? That's what I thought too, and I havent been reading Blizzard.com recently... I hope it's true! |

im not trusting in blizzard any more... they said "new edit tools" and they did that crap.... |

The new Art Tools are quite good, but I haven't specifically heard anything about them adding in a buff editor. It's my sincere hope that they will, but no official Blizzard announcements (to my knowledge) have confirmed or denied it. You can still edit buffs the same way that all spell editing was done in RoC. |

While I can't speak on the TFT/ROC thing, I can say that the buff editor is something we have all asked and hoped for and would certainly warrant the kind of massive change to the executables and files that Blizzard is purporting will be seen in this patch. Confirmed? No. But something both likely and desperately hoped for/expected? Damn right. As for the art tools/model tools thing... what else would you need? We already have excellent BLP converters, and Blizzard knows this. (Heck, they've asked for where to get them at times.) I think this might have something to do with why they only released a model tool. We have long petitioned them for a model converter/exporter because we don't understand the MDX format like we do the BLP format. All art in Warcraft is a 3D MDX model or a 2D BLP texture, so I humbly ask... what else were you hoping for? Maybe we can direct you to where to find it already. |

well lol i dont like buying photo shop for skining nor cracking it from kazza nor dling from a trial lol and u have to buy the studio max witch is kinda dumb lol cuz it cost around 3000$ or 650$ som where there lol |

What do you want Blizzard to do? Develop a $5000 modelling/image editing studio and put it up for download. I hate people like you who complain. Blizzard didn't have to give us the Art Tools, they did it out of good-will, and you spit in their face. |
| 11-12-2003, 07:32 AM | #12 |
ok but they could say " new art tools for 3dmax users only" not "NEW ART TOOLS! WOWOWO!!" they screw us all with that... kinda cruel too-- |
| 11-12-2003, 07:39 AM | #13 |
and they could make a simple modeling program powerfull enough to let us edit a few models, not say "NEW ART TOOLS HERE!! DOWNLOAD IT NOW!!!! GOGOGO" i rellay hate blizzard for that i got 56k modem waited like 40 mins downloading the tools to see "sorry you must select the folder whre your 3dmax program is installed" or somethin la that... THAT SUX!!:nono: im not saying nothing wrong about the tools, just the cruel way that blizzard did that...:nono: they had 2 choices 1) made a simple modeling program 2) just write "new art tools for 3dmax users ONLY" |

Blizzard never made a big deal out of the art tools, they never promised anything big, and they never got anyone's hopes up. In fact they warned everyone NOT to get their hopes too high up on their own board. They never even mentioned the art tools as more than a footnote in their Patch 1.13 announcement and then the release note still on the Blizzard front page; it was us as a community that whipped into a fury over those few words in the 1.13 message. You got your own hopes up by interpreting "Art Tools" to mean "free editors." Especially given the number of people going around these boards warning people not to have such unreasonable expectations, you have no one to blame for that but yourself. The reason Blizzard is so excited about what they have released is because it is already a huge accomplishment, and something they have every right to be excited about. Just as most people here are excited about it, provided they realized there would be a blizzard in Hell before Blizzard released someone else's editing program for free or spent the enormous time and effot to make their own. Me, I was pleasantly surprised we got more than a glorified BLP converter. There is no such thing as a "simple modelling program." The simplest modelling programs out there took years to develop. When you can write a "simple modelling program" like it is nothing, then maybe you can criticize Blizzard. Truthfully, I would guess it would just about be like writing Warcraft 4. As for your waiting for the tools to download over 56k, I am truly sorry for your waste, but I must point out that the message that Blizzard posted on their front page (and the same one that was posted on WC3C's front page) clearly stated the tools were plug-ins for 3D Studio Max. Again, I am afraid you really have no one but yourself to blame for not reading the message carefully and egging yourself on to download them. Blizzard did not force you to download them, did not make a big deal out of them even though the plug-ins really are, and certainly never promised you nor owed you a stand-alone editor. [edit] In response to your original question, since I see we've strayed utterly off-topic, there are buff editors of a limited sort in UMSWE and WEU. Using either of these editors is the only way at this time to edit buffs. Or you can be patient and pray that 1.13 includes a formal one, but remember: Blizzard has not promised it, and if there isn't one, them's the breaks. |

Apparently, being an "advanced user" as they put it means having an advanced budget. |
