The whole points thing is really lame

how about a normal vbullitein board without all this filler crap? Its the only thing I really dont like about the site. No, I'm not crying because I'm new and dont have any points yet, I don't even want or need half the silly features you can get with them? Especially the sticky post thing is stupid0 that should REALLY only be reserved for forum mods and adminns. sure you can ban people who cause trouble, but why bother creating the potential for it in the first place? the buttons on most of the style sheets are too big and make the pages longer.

The site is great, but all the forum BS just makes things clunky, slow, and people fight and barter over points. a forum should be fore communication and discussion, not for silly minigames.

This is all fixed. Look at the announcement! This is not like a minigame; you post more better stuff, you get rewarded. If you be a a**hole, moderators will ban yoyu and or take all your gold away.

Really, i'd just like more site and less BS.

ppl dont need to be rewarded for posting. i frequent several forum sites and this one just has the silliest system imaginable.

Make avatars limited to 64x64 pixels
Make signatures either not allow images or have a set limit of kb and dimensions.
Get rid of the point system.
Get rid of those stupid % based project completion things in peoples sigs

Basically get rid of all the crap that is clogging up these forums and leave a nice place that is easy to skin thru for information.

I happen to like the way this forum is. For all the things it has it's pretty organized. If you thinks everything is to "clunky, slow" get DSL or cable.

People are stupid.(someone will always complain about something)

Your new so all of this still might seem like a big pile of useless games and threads but get yourself educated on where's everything here and it starts looking like a real....good forum.

There is even set rules for how much a skin/model or icon or whatever can cost. This makes it so that noone gets "screwed".

Please take some time to get to know the system before condeming it, that was what I did, and I was wrong. This CAN work, if we just act mature about it and the mods are observative.

People are more active than ever before, and that is great.

This isn't a minigame no...just an extra small thing to make people have more fun :) (it isn't real money you know :))

There are much more good things on this point system than bad things,

The forums are now more active than before, And people is actually doing things they are good for to give them for other people.

Spam, and silly signatures were there before the points system

gigantic buttons on every style set and people with giant sigs = slow and clunky. I have a T1 connection.

Tahngarth, you do realize that you can opt not to view sigs, right? Just change your user settings to not see 'em. Silly % based sig problem solved.

As far as points goes, I've sorta adopted a blithe unconcern for what people do with theirs. The options are limited - basically, make your user name show up purty, change your custom title, and that's really about it. Whether or not a user changes their name to blinking red italics or not has NO bearing on me. In fact, I'd even go so far as to say that I could care less what people do with their points.

I don't care for "give me pointz plzzzz" posts, which didn't occur before the points transition, but that's why there's a report to mod button on every post.

I only have a problem with sigs when they get really huge, i saw a mod say keep them under 500p, even that is really huge. not everyone has huge sigs though.

the real problem is the one previously mentioned, most style sets have gigantic post/reply etc. buttons and cause the bar at the bottom to take up twice as much space. its just uglified. what are they for? people with bad mouse aim? :Þ

Theres nothing wrong with the point system, it only encourages people to be more productive.

Think of it this way:

If we remove it, you will be happy and the other people will be upset and dissapointed.

If we let it stay, you will be upset and dissapointed, and the other people will be happy.


We can't make everyone happy :P

I know... The points system is great, but I think there should be more things similar to "see someone's last visit".
