I'm having a tough time making much use of Lightning shield - I had intended on giving a self-only lightning shield to robotic units, basically an eletrical field ability. Unfortunately, the ability seems to be hard coded to only work on ground units (perhaps to avoid it being an air unit hoser, like Psi Storm?). Is there any way around it? These are flying units, and I do want them to be able to shield themselves. |

you mean the lighning sield that do 20 damage per second to units around it? Why you dont set the target of the ability to air too? Doesnt it work? |

Yes, that's the Lightning Shield I meant. And no, that doesn't work, at least as far as I can tell - it still says "Must target a ground unit." |

Trigger base it then... Make a dummy spell for your shield. When its cast use the "Add Ability" trigger to add an EDITED "Immolation" to the target. Edit the immolation so instead of the green fire glow, it has the lightning effect. Remove the ability when the spell "Runs out". Or if you don't want to do trigger based, edit the ability "Immolation" and then give it to the flying unit, but if you do that the it would be a spell that only targeted itself... |

Thanks, AP, I don't know why I didn't think of that. An edited immolation would work perfectly well. |

Glad I could be of assistance. :D |

Perhaps the "Targets" field for Lightning Shield dictates what kinds of units are affected by it, and not what kinds of units it can be cast upon? |

I'm guessing so; it's just irritating that there's no means of telling it what targets are acceptable to be lightning shielded. Too bad, too, it'd make an excellent Irradiate ability for a Starcraft conversion (I'm sure that'll be asked soon enough by Babuu). |
