Skining question!

well i need to remove the weapon from the body (make it invisible) in the tutorial about "editing MDX files" says "set the Alpha layer for those parts to black" i just pait the parts with black or what??

(im using photoshop)

But essentially, that's the case; black is supposed to be transparent. I've not had any luck whatsoever with skinning, but editing the model's easy enough; you can just shrink any unwanted polygons (such as weapons) and move the dot cluster somewhere inside the model.

'Course, you'll need 3dsmax in order to do so...

You need to colour the parts black when editing the alpha channel. Just colouring an area black normally will make it ... black.

so how do i edit the alpha channel to paint it black? or any tutorials about it???

First select the area you want to make black. By default on the right, there is a panel with three tabs, the first two being "Layers" and "Channels". Click over to the channel one and you should see Red, Green, Blue, and Alpha 1. Click once on alpha one. Select a black color and press alt-backspace to fill.

the skin dont have the "alpha 1" channel i made a new channel and the default name is "alpha 1" now i just paint the parts in black in the alpha 1?????

all i know that is don't use the tutorial they have on alpha for photoshop, becuase they are talking about photoshop pro, photoimpact, etc.. but i don't think there is one fore photoshop. this is why skinning get confusing
