I'm going to say bits & parts because if you do a complete reskin then you gotta be good like Wolverine, KDEWolf and some others. Who can do faces excellent and things like that. Most of us minor skinners stick to just main parts.

This should not be in skins gallery

Actually it shouldn't, the gallery is to post skins and get people's comments on them, while that main forum is for stuff like this.

Moved.

What do you mean by best?

Easiest? Most unique? Nicest look?

Overall, I think the most efficient is bits an pieces, as that's how I work to get so many done in a short time. If I needed to put everyone at awe, I'd make it from scratch, but that's not my intention.

I always make full-reskins (from greyscale), they may suck, but u dont get better by not trying.

well my first skin was a full reskin too...

but for others i would recommend Bits n Parts. I guess it depends on how much work u want to put into ur skins.

For new skinners it's probably bits 'n' parts...

I just started skinning and I like recolor but I tried adding a little bit of my own stuff, taking a strap off the militia helmet, adding sideburns, and they turned out nicely
so I think of my next skin I am going to do a edit then recolor the parts I want different colors

When I started skinning, I started with recolours, then I moved on to cut 'n' paste, then to bits and pieces... Then I finally decided to give it my all and reskin entire units from scratch, using different layers with the base skin greyscaled in the background so I knew where to place things.

Best way is to just start experimenting. If you have little to no experience, you should start with recolouring, admiring the work, seeing how lighting should go on the texture and how to do proper shading. Then move on to replacing bits, trying your hand at making something as good as you already see, then after you get comfortable with that you should try a full reskin.

That's just my opinion, though. I used to skin for Kingpin mods when I started out, and the mod I was working for was reviewed in a magazine. Apparently everything about the mod was good but the skins, so that was my fuel to improve my skills.

Anyway, enough of the history lesson on my skinning career.

Best place to start with no experience is recolouring.

My skin!
I resurected this thread to finish it. No need to post or vote, I just needed to end it.

That is one BIG belt buckle. Did that guy win the WWF Triforce Wrestling Match? I can almost hear his trademark catch-phrase: "Can you smell what The Ganon is cooking?"

I'm not sure CnP is the BEST way to start skinning, but it's probably all neophytes are capable of (myself included). Most Likely would probably be a better poll than Best Way would, IMHO.

I started with coloring + bits and parts. Now I'm skinning whole new models... ;)
