you really need TFT to do it properly, but it is possible with triggers. |

See if you can get it used. That usually costs a lot less. In a worst case scenario, you could try selling old games you don't play anymore. The downside to getting Blizzard games used is that the original owner might have burned the CD and is still using the CD key, which will keep you off of Battle.net. (I don't know if other companies do similar things.) However, if you don't play on Battle.net, it's not really an issue (there are other ways to play multiplayer, too). If that's still too expensive... you're out of luck I guess. Sorry. And don't pirate it... bad things happen :guns: |

you edit using the slk file um Abilties\HumanUpgrades.slk or somethin like that |
| 11-23-2003, 07:50 AM | #9 |
you can't make new abilities with .slk files, you can only do simple crap like what an already made ability can target, its location on the units ability box thingy and maybe the range. I wish I had TfT *sob sob* |

Okay, so I'll explain how you do custom upgrades without TFT: Get Units\UpgradeData.slk, Units\SomeRacesUpgradeStrings.txt and Units\TheSameRacesUpgradeFunc.txt out of war3patch.mpq or war3mpq Open UpgradeData.slk with Excel and in the effects column look at the comments to see what the existing upgrades do. If you found the effect you want to have for your upgrade copy the complete line of that upgrade and change values as you want. Give it a new unique 4-letter id of course. (you paste it into the first empty line at the end of the upgrades list) then add entries in the two txt files (see the entries of existing upgrades) for information.. Finally import all 3 files into your map if you want to have everything work in game And finally let me tell you that all this is obsolete as nobody ever will play w3m files because w3x files exist |

or create a unit that has the description and icon of the upgrade and use triggers to apply the default one when it is trained... |
