I was playing Age of Mythology today as well as looking ath the Age of Darkness units(which looks sweet, by the way), and I always like Norse mythology, so I thought it whould be a cool idea to start a mod on it. I already got some unit ideas as well.

Gatherer-Gathers wood and gold, can only build lodge, which gives them food.
HP-120
Attack-0
Upgrades:
Armor Forge:Increases all Norse units armor.

Ulfsark-One of the first warriors the Norse get. Can construct all buildings, like all other Norse infantry.
HP-340
Attack-4-7
Upgrades:
Weapon Forge:Increases all Norse units(except Gatherers)attack.
Armor Forge:Increases all Norse units armor.
Tracking:Increases Ulfsark's movement and attack speed by 10%.

Northman-Slightly more powerful than the Ulfsark, as well as more health. Also builds structures.
HP-400
Attack-11-16
Upgrades:
Weapon Forge:Increases all Norse units(except Gatherers)attack.
Armor Forge:Increases all Norse units armor.
Raise Shields:All Norse units that have a shield can raise it to aid them against piercing damage.

Axethrower-The ranged unit of the Norse, he throws deadly axes that can easily pierce light armor and flesh. However, they wear medium armor, making them slower than most infantry.
HP-390
Attack-20-29
Upgrades:
Weapon Forge:Increases all Norse units(except Gatherers)attack.
Armor Forge:Increases all Norse units armor.

My talents:
*Terraning 6/109I'm improving rapidly)
*Skinning 1/10(I'm learning)
*Story,Character, and Unit development 9/10(This is my best part. I've been making books since I was little, like 3)
*Spell and Unit Editor 8/10

Here's what I need now:
*Moddelers
*Skinners
*People that know Norse mythology
Here's what I need later:
*website developer
*voice acters

You may want to check out Mythrin and Tide of Shadows. they both have a Norse theme.

I have two ideas for a story: the first can be one that we make up, or two, one that works with Norse mythology. Here's the first one:

Non-mythological Story:

Background:

Midgard, a land of legends. Midgard, a land of myths. Midgard, a land of beasts, dragons, and trolls. But most of all, it is Midgard, the land of Gods. It was said by the Elders that in the beginning there was the void. And the void was called Ginnungagap. What does Ginnungagap mean? Yawning gap, beginning gap, gap with magical potential, mighty gap; these are a few of the educated guesses. Along with the void existed Niflheim the land of fog and ice in the north and Muspelheim the land of fire in the south. There seems to be a bit of confusion as to whether or not these existed after Ginnungagap or along side of it from the beginning.

In Niflheim was a spring called Hvergelmir from which the Elivagar (eleven rivers - Svol, Gunnthra, Fiorm, Fimbulthul, Slidr, Hrid, Sylg, Ylg, Vid, Leiptr, and Gioll) flowed. The Elivargar froze layer upon layer until it filled in the northerly portion of the gap. Concurrently the southern portion was being filled by sparks and molten material from Muspelheim

The mix of fire and ice caused part of the Elivagar to melt forming the figures Ymir the primeval giant and the cow Audhumla. The cow's milk was Ymir's food. While Ymir slept his under arm sweat begat two frost giants, one male one female, while his two legs begat another male.

While Ymir was busy procreating Audhumla was busy eating. Her nourishment came from licking the salty ice. Her incessant licking formed the god Buri. He had a son named Bor who was the father of Odin, Vili, and Ve.
For some reason the sons of Bor decided to kill poor Ymir. His blood caused a flood which killed all of the frost giants except for two, Bergelmir and his wife, who escaped the deluge in their boat.
Odin, Vili, and Ve put Ymir's corpse into the middle of ginnungagap and created the earth and sky from it. They also created the stars, sun, and moon from sparks coming out of Muspelheim.
Finally, the brothers happened upon two logs lying on the beach and created the first two humans Ask [ash] and Embla [elm or vine] from them.

[OFF TOPIC-From here on I'm making stuff up.]

Within thousand of years, the Humans claimed Midgard as their home, and also named it their kingdom. Ask and Embla, who Odin made immortal to age, became the first rulers. Midgard prospered for hundreds of centuries under Ask's and Embla's rule. However, they could never have a child. They spoke to Odin, and he promised that they could have a child, but only under one condition-Ask and Embla will lose their immortality. The two pondered this for many days and nights, four-hundred to be exact. Finally, they came to a decision: they will sacrifice their immortality for a child. Odin gave them a child: Uldrin, who was later called Uldrin the Noble, for in a coming war, long after Ask‘s and Embla's death, Uldrin will lead his people against the Vigentarr Demons, who came from many realms to conquer Midgard, and to slay the gods they worship.

What do you guys think? Should I do a story based on Ragarok? Or should I make a story that ties deeply into Norse mythology? OR, work with the story above.

No more ragnarok based mods.... end of the world is bad.. bad end of world
*points at own mod* See, too many of us already

I think you should make the mod based on norse mythology, centering around loki stealing the golden apples from Idun, that could definatley be fun :D

I love Norse Mythology! Good job, that is a completley awesome story. But, how would you go about doing all that? Try starting smaller.

I know norse mythology like the back of my hand (I'm 75% norse myself, and I'm a historian) so if you have questions about the norse I've got answers.

I play AoM BTW and I'm really good at triggering so if you need there I can help as well. PM me if you need me.

Heyhoe!
I`m here in China as an exchange student and my friend from Norway here can surely add some originality to the mod with voice

The horsie has/d 8 legs. But I must say that the public religion, old or new, really sucks. I'd rather believe in magic, dragons, dwarves and elves then in "God".
