Help using glyphs

As the topic says, I'm having some trouble using glyphs in a map. I know that the glyphs cannot be copied, so I've altered the existing ones so that they use new upgrades. But in one case, the glyph of "fortification" doesn't seem to supply the bonus it should even to units that have that upgrade listed as an available upgrade. In the other case, my hero can't even pick up the glyph.

I'm sure I'm missing something dumb here, but if anyone has successfully altered the glyphs, would you mind sharing how it was done? Thanks.

Hmm, that's pretty odd. I see what you mean now when you say they can't be copied... Maybe there is a workaround to that somewhere.

But here's my suggestion, since I can't figure out that 'workaround'. Triggers can give bonuses to any units that you want, so just make a trigger action that affects all units owned by the hero picking up the item, and base the item off a powerup (like Shadow Orb Fragment, just poofs right when you pick it up).
