I have been planning this project for a long time, and since I finally have some free time, I'm working on it now. Here's a little background about the subject... This is a 10 player Bnet map that is most similar to an AoS. Each team has 5 players and a computer player. These 5 players each get their own square which is their "Village". As of now, they have to bring civilians to their village to get money. They get 10 gold every 30 seconds by default. Each civilian costs a bit of money. Adult Males cost the most, but give 10 gold every 5 seconds. Adult Females cost half as much and give 5 gold every 5 seconds, and Children only give 2 gold every 5 seconds, but are very cheap. Every civilian costs 1 food. Farms are needed to support more civilians, and every farm can hold 10 of them. Farms also supply 10 food. There are 9 basic unit types you can train. First is the Swordman, which is a very powerful melee unit but isn't very fast. Archers are obviously ranged, and can easily be put up on the castle walls to fire at air units and intruders. Their only disadvantage is that they are the weakest fighting unit. Third is the Catapult, which can shoot for splash damage from large distances, and it's great for destroying buildings, but is vulnerable to everything. Fourth are Wizards, which are very expensive but have a variety of powerful spells at their disposal, as well as a few healing spells to heal troops. The fifth unit is the only "main" flying unit, the Gryphon, which is very powerful but extremely expensive and can be killed easily if the enemy is ready for it. The Dark Sentinels are fast and weak, but are capable of great destruction against certain units. Seers are Dark Magicians who were outcasts from the rest of them because of their evil intentions. They have very powerful magic but can only show it at the peak of their power. Mana Absorbers are powerful Warriors trained to absorb magic and destroy it by any means. Finally, Elven Avengers are flying units. Rather delicate, they are very powerful when attacking but can not attack ground units. Every unit is weak to a type of attack. Swordsmen are weak to Dark Sentinels, while Dark Sentinels are weak to Spellcasters. Spellcasters are weak to Mana Absorbers, while Absorbers are weak to Archers. Archers are weak to Seers, and Swordsmen are tough against Seers. However, the last 3 units are a lot weaker. Catapults and Gryphons are weak to everything, but they are hard to see coming and have very high attack power. Avengers are tough against Gryphons, but alas, can also be killed easily by pretty much anything else. Anyway, now to the game... like most games, you can choose your hero at first. Hopefully there will be around 40 heroes, all with mostly custom skills (no skill will be the exact same as the Blizzard ones, although maybe very similar). Heroes can reach level 50, but after a hero hits level 20, they only gain EXP at a 20% rate. After level 30, they only gain at a 10% rate. All skills can reach level 10. After you've chosen your hero, you get a builder. You can build towers with this, as well as buildings that train other units. After a while, you may also build shops, where you can buy powerful items. Towers are very powerful, but you shouldn't rely on them. You also have a gate guarding your "fort", but once it is destroyed, it won't come back. You can build up to 9 different units that can guard your castle for you. You also have a "King" which you will always try to defend by any means. He is extremely powerful and can fight if neccessary, but can't move or attack fast, and if he dies (without any items capable of reviving), you lose. The main part of the game--summoning. Every character gets a shrine, and from there they can summon monsters and send them to their enemy forts. For every monster that is summoned, 1 will go to each enemy fort. So, 5 monsters are spawned for each one you summon. After you get a lot of gold, you can upgrade your shine until level 10, to summon even more powerful monsters. The object of the game is to kill the Player's King. First team to lose all their Kings (or get pissed off and leave) loses. *whew* That was a lot of typing. This map is currently work in progress. Screenshots and other information will be availible soon. In the meantime, any comments? Flames? Criticism? |

1000 levels seems a bit too much imo... Do you need to control all these units, or are they sent off (think it's a bit blurry on that part) to the enemy base. I see that the summoning part is like that, but is that where u can summon the 9 units? When u summon, is it a one time spawn or continualy ? Sounds neat, but 40 heroes and 1000 levels might just be a tad too much... 40 heroes will make it very hard to balance and 1000 levels just isn't funny. 100 maybe, but it will be a damn long game if u need to be around 50 to get to the other side... |

You're right, I'll bring the max hero level down a bit, maybe to around 50. Also, 40 heroes is just an estimate, so far I've got 5 heroes mostly done, but I'm still unclear how many I'll have in the final version. As for summoning, there are 5 human players on each team, and 1 computer player. Whenever you summon units, 5 are created for the computer player, and 1 is sent to each enemy base. Any gold the computer player gets will be spread evenly upon the 5 players in the team. If a player leaves, his gold will be spread evenly upon the other 4 players, etc... As for the 9 units, in your "fort", you get a builder. There's a building you can build in your fort, like a "Barracks", that can summon any of those 9 units. They can also be upgraded. Physically fighting units can have attack upgrades, maybe to around 20 attack and 20 defense, and Wizards can get upgrades to their magic, making them a bit more powerful and giving them access to more spells. (These units can be controlled by the player) I'm thinking of making it so that you can easily build the first 3 units (Swordman, Archer, Catapult) but all the other ones require special buildings. When you summon, there's about 10 monsters you can summon in each shrine, and you can upgrade it to about level 10 (so far) to get more powerful monsters. You can summon them any time. They last until killed by the other team. |
