It depends on what you're importing, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you want to use a model. Basically, you need to make a reference to the file you're intending on using as a model. The easiest way to do this is if you're replacing a model with an imported one. All you need to do is find out the pathway of the model in the .mpq file. Go to the unit in question, and edit the model it uses. You should see a string like /units/creeps/murloc/murloc.mdx Copy that string. Now go back to the import manager, and right click on your model file. See where it says "Use custom path"? Click that, then set the custom path to the path of the model you want to replace. Important: Save the map. In fact, it works better if you close the map and re-open it. Otherwise, WorldEdit won't display your model correctly. The game will show the model just fine, but WE doesn't refresh models in memory except when opening the map. Voila. From now on, all murlocs will use your new model. |

an other question. if I d/l a skin or something from the internet, then do I put them in a map throught the import manager? if not how do I do it? K, i did what you told me and when I place them on the map I get some green boxes instead of the model. is that normal? |

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the green boxes shouldn't appear once you reload the map. A better option is to check in-game whether the graphics work. If they work in-game, don't worry yourself about the editor. 9 out of 10 times it'll fix itself. If the model doesn't work in-game, THEN you've got problems. As for the skin, you do the same thing, only this time you have to find the path of the existing SKIN you want to use. Then do the same thing you did with the model, only using the skin's path. This can be found with a program like Warcraft III viewer. (Go to the unit you're skinning, click the button to view the skins it uses, find the one you want to replace, and use that path for your new skin.) Again, it won't refresh immediately in WE, but it should work ingame or the next time you reload. |

It gives me green boxes with some of the models and it gives me the actual model with others. but when I play the map all I can see is their shadow. Not the the model, only the shadow. Why? |

you have to restart WE whenever you import new models... if you want to see them in we... but if u test the map their still there. |

Ouch... well if they're not appearing in-game, then you've got a problem... seems it can't load the model, though I'm not sure why that would be unless the model was corrupted... 'Fraid I can't help ya there... anyone else got any more insight? |
