i've noticed that whenever i try to "import" a model, it doens't work :) maybe it's the model, maybe it's me, but from what i read across tutorials, everything i'm doing is fine :)))) - i open a new map - import a model using the import manager - i tried custom paths (wc3import), replacing paths (instead of some unit) etc, but none works :) - the model i'm using is the nerzhul or i think that's its name, i think it says something like uploading it to a certain path (evilarthas) and i tried with that path, i can still only see the shadow in game... - when i try the "custom" path (wc3imported) it says i'm missing the .mdl file....since i can't get my yobgul file converter to start, can someone make me a .mdl file ?:) i'll pay up, but it has to have heroglow attached to it :) the files i got is nerzhul.mdx, nerzhul.blp and nerzhul_portrait.mdx i tried changing them all to units\human\arthas\arthas* and it still didn't work...i've checked many tutorials, and i have seen to it that i'm doing it the same way the tutorial does... help plz :) |

i've checked the site again and it says path : units\undead\EvilArthas so, does that mean i should use one of the following 1) units\undead\EvilArthas\mymodelname.mdx 2) units\undead\EvilArthas\EvilArthas.mdx (replace it with my model) 3) or what ? :) since my WinMPQ doesn't work, and i don't know why (seems to me that all my WC3 progs except WE doesn't work :( ), i can't extract some .mdl file and edit it....or just see the file tree, and their paths etc... i tried option 1, and option 2....i'm trying it again, this time with a WE restart....if it don't work again, i'll just have to wait for u'r help :) i'll attach the zip that i got, and someone should try it, to see if it works... i tried both "options" and both times it said cannot load file : units\undead\EvilArthas\NerzhulArthas.mdl cannot load file : units\undead\EvilArthas\NerzhulArthas.mdl ..... guess the model isn't working ? :) |

- Import model - Give it the propper path - SAVE YOUR MAP, everytime you added an .mdx (heck, anytime you add anything, it first has to be saved into the archive before it can be used.) Now it should work. Note that changing the path afterwards, or importing several .mdx's at once will cause more weirdness, and will probally require you to reload (close/open) your map. Sometimes changing paths doens't work at all (atleast, I had this happen once or twice), then just delete the file from the archive, save, and reimport it. Hope this helps. |

already tried every single thing u said, and no, it doesn't work :)) i guess i need an .mdl file ..... or someone to explain it more throughly (i think thats the way to spell it) to me :) anywayz, i'm paying 20-30 pts for a .mdl file and an explanation on how to use them ... i have to waste all this points somehow :) |

To bad... I guess you need the latter then.., because it's the game that creates the mdl's, you neither need, nor should import those manually... |

why not ? well, the only file i'm missing is the .mdl file, and it looks like the model has been "formated" badly, so whatever name do i give him, he still needs the NerzhulArthas.mdl file...that's why i need the model, so i can simply insert it somewhere, and try to do something with it :) |

You don't get it, and I'm to new at this to explain it propperly to you. emote_confused However, the .mdl get's automaticly created by the editor/game, during saving & loading of a map. (ever noticed how 1 of those progress bars during load says, "creating models" ?) At first when importing models, I also got this error message about a missing mdl file a few times, and I also thought that I should import the mdl myself to fix it. So I downloaded the mdx2mdl converter, and created the mdl. Imported it, and all I did in the end was waste allot of time, because it still complained about exactly the same thing. You're free to waste your own time aswell, but.... well... keep my "I told you so" in mind ;) |
