Guest | probably not, i also may have a way of "getting around" the map's protection....just open it in some mpqedit, and search for some "unknown" file etc....it can be overridden easily :) |

Well I think the main idea of the map protections were to make it harder for various people who just take whatever they want from your map and never give you any credits for it. |

Zepirs method has numerous problems as he just deletes the file which means the map is still openable my method is much beter of introducing a blank file now obviously I think I explained to people what file I used but check your triggers whoops there gone! Don't save or you really will loose them sort of a cut throat and Only 1 man I know of knows the wtg format (zepir) and maybe blizzard. |

No Weaaddar, I don't delete files! :) I do the same thing you do and eve more. In the comming version, you'll also be able to save unprotection records (crypted with an algorythm of mine) and the best thing to come -Weaddar, now forget your map protector! ;P- my map editor will now uses the same compression methode as the World Editor uses! Which means there won't be much size differences (maybe arround 1Kb) thanks to ShadowFlare (WinMPQ, SFMPQAPI, ...)! She also said that it should be possible tu use and even higher compression level! And THAT would kick the World Editor's ***! =) About the map protectors in general, well, I'd like to let you notice two things about the W3Z map protection level 3: - there is an easy way to get arround the protection and let the WE open a protected map BUT if you save the map with the WE, the new map will not work!Of course, if you're smart, you'll figure out a way to solve that problem too but the solution you may find means that not everybody can do it... -the watermark is not an "active" protection but is secure. Try to remove it from a map. This prevents map author name stealing. -if I got time, I'll include to the map protection level 3 a new feature that'll definitely block the WE. I know things that can do that but they are not easy to implement and sometimes, they can't be set unfortuneately. |

Guest | Keep in mind that map protection can never work completely, because the maps have to be playable. Which means that preventing map stealing for intelligent individuals is also impossible. Fortunately, intelligent individuals tend not to copy other peoples maps purely for stealing them. |
