I want to (Basically) create a hero version of the sorceress, with a custom skin i made. I do not want to change the path in the import manager so all sorceresses use it. I heard you can change the skin path somewhere under the unit in the object editor- but all i can find are models! Any help appreciated! Its for a campain Im making. |

no you cannot. if you do this it wont work trust me ;) let me get this straight do you want it just for the sorc hero? if you do: extract the Sorceress_VI.mdx and the Sorceress_VI_portrait.mdx also Bloodelf_sorceress.blp using wc3viewer (in Wc3x.mpq) (you can put these files where eva u want) now get the mdl-Mdx converter from the download section and convert the Sorceress_VI .mdx's to mdl which makes it editable open it in Notepad. now in that mdl you can find a place where it says Bitmap "Units\Human\Sorceress\Bloodelf_sorceress.blp if you do change the name (which u must or itll take over the normal units its gotta be the same as in the path above) change that do a different path (note! keep the "" at the front and end) e.g "units\Human\Herosorceress\HeroSorceress.blp (change the .blp to the name which goes at the end here "HeroSorceress or etc) okay so you have changed that save it and close. You have rename the Sorceress_VI.mdx and Sorceress_VI_Portrait.mdx to something else. do this to the Sorceress_VI_portrait.mdx to. then in importer in WE import those files and right click on it and go to properties. then click custom path button it should have originally Wc3Imported\Herosorceress.mdx (if that is what you called it) delete the Wc3\imported\ bit and insert Units\Human\HeroSorceress\ (if that is the name of it) then import the other files and do the same and in the object editor under units you can select the model path under the unit u have created. and click imported and select the Herosorceress.mdx and then ur done hope this helps, any questions put it here. Cheers, |

I see what you mean. Its not really worth it, but Ill give it a shot if I need to. Now I see why tutorials only teach the "other way". The only thing is most likely i will have 2 skinned sorceress's, an dI wasnt sure it there was a way to do that. You should post that as a tutorial! :D |
