First time I saw the new Blizzard project WoW, I knew that playing like an orc, human, tauren or other, and meet with other races of the world, to work together or war against, would be awesome :p . I dont know if someone has thought it, But think that it would be awesome, too, to make the world of warcraft on the actual wc3. :) . We have not to wait for it, we can make it in wc3, so imagine: - 7 continents of the world of warcraft (Lordaeron, Kalimdor, Quel'Thalas, Undermine, Azeroth, Khaz Modan and Northrend) - Each continent would be separated in to zones (the maps) that will be connected through portals (we would use game cache). - You can choose one of the 29 races existing in the wow (i've counted them, really). :p - You can choose a profession to earn money, you can war against your enemies and gain lvl experience... - It would be "persistent world" that is constantly evolving. The server would update the zones (maps) and would make Events to the world. - There would be NPCs, too, that server would control if he wants. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- YOU can post any ideas, so let's make the World of Warcraft. :D |

Guest | so you r trying to say that would make a Warcraft 3 MMORPG ?? well but your idea is like GOOD GOOD :D |

:D yes, there would be 7 big separated zones (the continents) that you can go through, and these would be separated in to small zones (that would be every map) and would be connected all of them. All the units you see would be connected-to-the-server-people, like an MMORPG. :p The admins of the server would create events in certains zones, and we would be able to create an infinity of stories. The zones can be created for users, too, and there would be tons of inexplorated zones with lot of quest to accomplish! More ideas? |

Yeah I looked into it a while back, this is a great idea; However you say The admins of the server would create events in certains zones, and we would be able to create an infinity of stories. Do you mean blizzard or who, Im kind of lost there. |

Make a "persistent world" is easy *if you do not disconnect the server*, but the problem we have is to make changes to map (zone) that has been created before and that has actually players in. Then I've thought to see it from a different perspective.:) Since WoW is a MMORPG and never disconnects: - we could make the complete world of warcraft, with their respective zones (this would be 10 or 15 maps, or more if people make them). - then, the world is ever the same. We would make events through triggers for a week, and distribute it. - Next week, we would be able to add events to map for the following week, disconnect the week server, and upload the modified maps with the events. - Of course, the data of every played will be stored and restored with the new week events. - In this way, the you will download the week events (that would be the maps of the beginning but with added events), and it would look like an MMORPG.:D More ideas? |

So We would have to have a data-base like Blizzard did with diablo two correct? |

no, it wouldn't be necessary. when you abandon or disconnect, your character lvl, items, and all this stuff will be stored in a game cache. when you connect later, the map will restore your character according to your name! :D |

Ok I see now, And how do you plan to perfect the storeing of the characters, or will someone else do that. |

Actually I'm making a map, where u can type "save" and your hero will be saved in game cache... With "load" your hero will be restored only 1 problem..It seems like I cannot save the hero position in game cache :/ I will go on working later on |

If you can save your hero+position a MMORPG should be possible |

Thats cool, sound interesting. |

Of course, all related to the character can be stored. (i'm an expert on game cache ;) ) To save the position of a specific character, you must store his coordinates in the way of X and Z. Create a trigger like this: Game Cache - Store (X of (position of *character*) as positionx of positions in (Last created Game Cache). |

Guest | I still have NO idea how this is going to work. I mean? Won't 12 players HAVE to be in the same map at the same time? And if they never disconnect how are they going to download the maps for the event changes? And lastly, if they leave, they will have to wait until the NEXT session, because you can join a game in-progress. |
