Ok for some reason my WE doesn't like to make custom abilities. When I start a new map I can open the abily editor and create and modify abilities all I want. I can do this for about 5 open/close then around the 5-10 opening of the spell editor the map doesn't want to anymore and crashes with the error mesage: "Program encountered an error has to shutdown plz contact microsoft blah blah blah...", This is hugely frustrating because I can't get any work done on my maps. Someone please tell me how I can fix this error! EDIT: Oh, if u can help me my email adress is [email protected] |

Were you trying to make the same ability each time it crashed? |

I've never had a problem even remotely like this. Once and a while WE will crash when I'm running something else at the same time, or several other things. Are you running other programs? What operating system are you using? Have you tried reinstalling Warcraft 3? |

No everything else is closed. I'm on windows XP. Yes I'v reinstalled wc3 twice on thsi computer and installed it on my new computer which also crashed when i tried to open my maps spell editor (I transfered the map over on a floppy disc). |

Did you change the "Stats - Race" of any of the abilities? The only time I have seen the object editor crash is if you set an ability's/unit's/upgrade's race to "Commoner" or "Critter". You can't use those 2 races, it crashes WE. If you previously made a map, and you made one of the abilities "Commoner" or "Critter" then you will NEVER be able to open the Abilities tab of the object editor when viewing the map, it WILL crash WE. And the only way to fix it is to Export all the object editor data (you have to export it all because you can't just export the abilities becuase you can't get to the abilities tab) and after exporting it, open it in a HEX editor (NOTEPAD WILL NOT WORK, it will corrupt the file on save) and change the word "Commoner" or "Critter" to "other" and then save and reimport it into your map. The reason I know this is because I had the same problem a while back. |
