i was wondering what do you guys model model from scratch example from box, cone, line, etc.. if you don't understand let me explain this, how do you guy use to model from scratch, to make a human body? |

well most people start from a box. From there, they extrude faces, bevel, add modifiers, pull out more faces, mess with vertices and so on... However, I model from a single plane. I create a box, convert to editable poly, reflect it as an instance, and then remove the bottom verts. So now I can model one side by holding shify, pulling out faces, messing with verts, pull out more faces and so on. I learned this style from kdub and there is a movie showing him do it floating around here somewhere. And I really think that it is a good way to model warcraft 3 models. This model started from a single face, the collar area |

isn't a plane 2d? beside i use box, and extrude, etc.. then it depend if i'm going to make both side the same, if so i use instant copy. though i havn't tried moeling from scratch yet (scare) i follow some tuts on it so it is all cool |

I use boxes, cylinders and spheres then merge vertexes and edit the mesh by extruding, moving vertexes and such. |

I normaly create Guns/ Air planes... but human bodys? I have no idea on how to do such. . . . I am more used on using Mesh Poly/Vertex edeting. |

dont listen to rightfield, hes probably the worst modeler here......jk. anyways, I understand your problem that u can model guns and stuff but not bodies. I also have the exact same proble when I box model. Thats why I found that the plane modeling I do works very well. You start with just a single thing and build from there. This allows you to shape it as you go along, instead of starting with a big block and chiseling it down. |

human body from a box? easy. Just make the box, then extrude it upwards for each section of the body. Make half the body first. Then move the vertexes around. The delete the faces which will not be visible when merging two parts. Then mirror the body and merge them and the vertexes. |

Is there a possible way of making human models and smoothing with wings? I can just make weapons attachments. Btw Rightfield, are you from norway? Im from Sweden =) |

okay you guy say you create box cylinder, etc. but how do you attach them all together? |

some times theres not need to attach, look at wc3 models if you convert one to 3dsmax or a supporeted type you could rip there arms off no skills required. |
