"External exception 80000003."

Every time I attempt to extract a file with MPQView, this is the error.

Here are the precise steps I take to get there.

1. Open program.
2. Choose File -> Open Archive... and pick war3.mpq.
3. Choose File -> Open Data File... and pick war3listfile.txt.
4. Change the filter to *.slk.
5. Select AbilityData.slk from the list.
6. Click save, select a directory, and save.
7. Error appears. The file is saved but it is completely empty.

Help would be appreciatied, as this is one of the last things I have to figure out before I can begin spell editing...

Have you set it up correctly? You have to copy storm.dll from your WC3 directory to the directory where you put MPQView. Additionally I suggest to use either WinMPQ or Ladik's MPQ Editor. Check my Important Threads and FAQ thread to get more info.

Well, I did get WinMPQ to work. Now I have another problem. I have a new AbilityData.slk file and stuff with a couple of modded abilities, but I don't know how to actually get it into the map. I read in a tutorial that it doesn't look for AbilityData.slk and in another FAQ that the best way to edit abilities is with the TFTWE ability editor, but I don't have TFT. :abomHUH?:

Is there a way to do this? (like a modded editor having the ability editor)

You can import the file using WinMPQ. Open your map in WinMPQ (make a backup of it first). After drag&dropping the file to the WinMPQ window, you have to enter the correct path. In the case of AbilityData.slk you have to enter "Units\" (without the quotes).
