I screwed around with multiboards for about 5 hours this morning and got at least some things out of it and would like some more details/clarifications/verification. - First off the icons in a multiboard item, I noticed that they are obviously stretched to fit so that they are just as High as one row. The first question is, just how high is that, how many pixels etc etc. This is very important because of a later question, since if you want to make an icon that you want to look a certain way. -The same sort of overflowing is true for text, it will flow over an icon that is to the right of it. -When the item width is changed to be smaller than the width of an icon, it is tucked under the icon to the right of it, and if there is empty space to the right it spills into it, overlapping it. -Another item on the width, it is incredibly accurate, although without jass it is impossible to write more than two decimal places of accuracy, I think the width (since it is so small in the first place) feels decimal almost to the 4th and maybe even 5th decimal place. -The width of a standard square icon, if shrunk down is about .012. -Multiboards have a very strange visual memory, I havn't completely figured it out, but a I do have a few examples. For instance when you create a multiboard and fill it with text in each space, and then make the number of collumns smaller, the text that was already there will remain, and sortof stack up, it's a very hard to describe effect. The same goes for any text that goes off screen, it's as if it get stacked up and gets slowly removed as space allows (with dynamically changing the width). Anyways, the only way to get rid of these "ghosts" or visual glitches is to clear and re-create the multiboard. Also, even changing the text of a box from the text that was there to "" sometimes doesn't remove the old text. -A very strange problem, and my biggest one, every collumn you add creates a small (about .005) buffer to the right of All the collumns, so in my case when I tried to create a life bar with 100 collumns it created such a big space to the right of it that it was completely terrible looking. Hope this helps some people out, and I also hope to get some comments, I would really like to create an actual life/ammo bar because with 100 collumns it would look very cool like when you're firing a machine gun for it to slowly crawl down smoothly instead of the blocky displays that are normally made with multiboards (one icon for 1/10'ths of whatever). Also, any comments on the idea of having something like a repeating image, like lets say a vertical standing bullet, and there are 10 of them like this: .||..||..||..||..||. And as you ran out of ammo it would remove like this: |..||..||..||. As in it each bullet would be 4 different icons plastered together (which is where the exactness comment comes in) and it would remove one fourth each time instead of one whole icon. Once again, thanks to all who reply. |
