It's a bit hard to see which of the units is heroes and which of them is units. Someone said I should add hero glows to the heroes and delete the glows from the non-heroes. I'm a little noob in modeling and skinning but how do I add hero glows and do I need to change the model or just change the texture? and...Can I have 2 units with same model? I mean one with glow and one without... |

The Best, easiest, and most effecient (least amount of imported files) way to add hero glow? Check Here. For full info/understanding of that method you might have to read almost the whole thread... But it DOES work (I used that method on 2 of my maps, worked on both)... Or you can just download the glowpack like it says in that thread and then follow the instructions that are in the glowpack.. but that would make your map size MUCH larger because you would have to import more files.... Basically what the method my link takes you to does is, you create an ability that is the glow, and then you give this ability to any units that you want to have the glow (like your heroes). And because the regular units don't have the ability, they won't have the glow. So no model editing or anything. Just one small imported file, and one custom ability and 1 trigger. Easy as that. And you should give credit in your map where credit is due: Cookie = Maker of the glow models Lord Vexorian = The person who discovered the ability method of adding the glow. If you need any further assistance with it, let me know. :D |

Does this include taking out glow from the regular heroes? |

No, but there are lots of tutorials on removing hero glows, all of them require mdx editing..... |

Thx all! This is a bit complecated and isnt that important, I think I make the glows in v2.0 of my map or later... |

An easy way to use hero glows is to download that file... then import all of the glows into your map. Copy the Fire Melee Attack skill, make it a unit skill, change its' stats so it doesn't give extra damage/do splash damage, then change the model from the little swirling fire orb to the imported glow of your choice. Also change "weapon" into "origin" so the glow's at their feet. Give the unit skill to your hero of choice. The glow will appear in-game. (Not in WE.) |

Oh, that IS handy. You meant Item Fire Bonus, right? Make sure to turn everything, including attacks enabled, to 0, of course. |

Yup, that's the one. :) |

Unfortunnally the link AllPainful posted says exactly that, also shows the triggers needed, because a serious bug makes the glow to be always red when you just use the ability |

... *tests* No, no it doesn't. Just use the correct glow as a graphic. o_O |

Shadow Orb ability, generic hero glow .mdx... Works perfectly for me, team color and all. |

No, there are bugs to using the Shadow Orb method. Triggers are required if you want to get the correct glow color sometimes. And using Lord Vexorian's method uses much less space because there is only one glow model, not 26. |

Looking around I didn't see anything about bugs with the shadow orb method on the forum. What kinds of bugs? Only time I've ever noticed anything weird with it was if I gave one unit more than one ability based from it (ie: multiple graphics, say - a glow + an extra weapon model). And personally have had trouble with the trigger methods without numerous precautionary triggers to keep the graphic on under various circumstances (like unit death). I'm just curious, anyway. |

Isnt it better to use an aura to it, delete targets... and when aura is used...then make another aura to that units with the normal aura (2 auras abilities). My problem isnt to add the glows, my prob is to delete them... a lot of work. |

Ever heard of the Add/Remove Ability events? |
