What do you prefer? Single or mulriplayer RPGs?

(assuming that it are good RPGs.)

Personally, I prefer Singeplayer RPGs. More storylines, no n00bs going 'OMG I CNT BLD TWRS ROFL!!11!!1111oneoneone', more cinematics, etc, etc, etc....

Vote :)

Multiplayer, it gets boring if you can't scream at a noob every once and awhile. ;)

I like the multiplayer aspect. It makes it a bit more challenging and interesting when you have to work with oters =D

Singleplayer is better, considering the increase in quality and such.

Multiplayer, if played with mature, experienced players.

.... Yes, that can happen. Once a year. Maybe twice.

I gotta say multiplayer. I am sure we have all played Kaggz RPG. That is one great rpg map. I like multiplayer rpgs because you are with friends. I mostly play rpg maps with friends from battlenet because if not the people tend to quit leaving you to die by big mobs. Singleplayer rpgs are awsome. Im on a team making one right now.

Multiplayer definately. A good group of people can make multiplayer a lot of fun - if the map is particularly retarded (dumb dialogue, stupid quests), it's good to have a crowd around to mock the map with, and believe me, I've played my unfair share of dumb RPGs. But a fun RPG where the players are encouraged to stick together and not just grab every item that drops (actually letting dex heroes get dex tomes, etc) is much more fun, IMHO.

The key is making sure the players have enough to do and enough reason to stick together. If items are rare and fights are wimpy, there's no reason to tolerate other players horning in on your bounty/chance for loot. But if loot was ample enough, every player had some ability to help other players out (i.e., no one character is shafted with healing/buff abilities while the others do nothing for them), the game holds together nicely.

Sure, you'll bump into jerks - but if you really fear that, why are you playing online?

Multiplayer. I know there are morons, but hey, it's battlenet, and the most prominent game there is Tower Defense.

Although, don't make the map dependant upon a large number of players.

Limit the number of people able to play to a certain number. In these cases I have found people are actually less likely to copy off others and leave, since there is not as much pressure around them saying that the game sucks and encouraging others to leave.

WTF? Where's the "Other" option?

I don't care what any of these guys say, any map that gets a good score from me will be playable by either one person or many. Great multimaps just plain suck if you cannot play by yourself EVER (The Princess' Prophecy, great map but good luck getting past the first boss alone, it just aint gonna happen). And single player maps suck after you've been through them once... and sometimes twice if they are really good. Make a single player map, and add some multiplayer support "just in case". Explore the Ruins is a good example of a multimap that is playable by 1-4 people, I been through it twice by myself. (And if I could host games I'd play more with others but apparently nobody has it ;))

My imaginary vote goes to "Both".

Good multiplayer Rpg > Good single player Rpg. Though an advantage of singleplayer is that theres no chance of sM4ck7ARd5 ruining it for you.

Single player rpg linear... Why do every one want to make a nonlinear map... Arent the best rpg linear...Final, chrono, Tales of Phantasia?

Then I would have to say those aren't the best RPGS.

A really good RPG to compare to is... FALLOUT

One of teh best RPGs ever. You could choose any path, but you ultimately had to kill one badguy, so essentially its as non-linear as you can get without being more than one game.
