Economic Empire Saga - Promotion thread

Dead-Inside
Greetings from LegolasArcher and Dead-Inside.

We both have started a fairly new project (It's about one week in to work). Right now, the basic terrain is 80% done, it needs some more placements of bridges, ect.

To explain the map, let me begin by saying it builds on three roles, one of which we have not brainstormed enough and is not final. The roles are:
Economist - Handles trading with the other kingdoms/clans/factions, builds structures and gives resources to the tactician.
Tactician - Controls troops of war, build strategical defence, and further gives out his given resources to the trainer.
Trainer - Improves upgrades from the base-standard upgrade bonuses, using mini-games (Or at least that's what is planned).

The game builds on a simple system of economics. To construct buildings and train units, you need resources of different kinds (Resources being wood, rock, ore/iron, gems and minerals, food and gold). By trading, you can get what you want, and others can get what they want. Rock is extremly important for defensive buildings, because you can only get wodden structures without stone. Iron is important for your army, since you can only arm your men with bronze until you have the resource. It all hangs together, you need one to have the other.

Eatch team (being 4 over all) starts with their own corner, with they own resource. One starts with rock, another with farmland, the thrid with iron ore and the fourth with wood. Now they all need to trade to survive. If they do not, progress will be slow.

There will be several upgrades, among two, Mine support stands - upgrade, which allows the construction of mines, and the Extraction - upgrade (Name is subject to change). By getting both of these, you can construct a Gem Mine. Without both of them, you can not. Extraction - upgrade is specific for Gem Mine, whilst Mine support stands - upgrade can be used to upgrade quarrys (rock) to mines, and further improve extraction of the resource.

As you can see, the whole system is well thougth out. Everything is built on plots, which you click on to build. You can, by this, not place your buildings anywhere you want, but at any plot you control.

Now, the Economist runs the game for the whole team. He controls all of the others, and should always be an experienced player. (This will of course not be possible until the map has hit it off). He is the most important key. Then comes the Tactician, not investing in defence would leave the Tactician out of work.

When players are out of land, war is the final result. When you start out, there's a lot of free land to conquer. But as time goes, your wast planes grew tiny, and so, you face boarder to boarder with other kingdoms... War is the only options. But be sure you've bought up the resource they have plenty off, so you don't stand there empty handed when you invade them and run out of their resource. But, at the same time you might have cut them short on your resource, saying you're low on them or some other excuse, and thus they might miss Rock/Stone (Strong defence). Or wood, requierd to build at all.

The game is won when you're the last man standing (With your team). Everyone begins with a HQ, which contains settings and possibly some upgrades.

We're currently requesting a tile or two, with a screenshot of some mountains (Not much to show) (Click here to view). I have some more technical information, like buildings and their descriptions. If anyone wants to see, just reply - Dead-Inside

That's intresting, I didn't you know the collective has been wanting my services. I know fyredaug is looking for work, but both me and LegolasArcher know what we're doing with the triggers ;). And I don't know if he'd be intrested in the idea-part...

Anyway, I don't think this is like trade wars, it can't be. We have SO MANY original ideas that I've never heard of that it wouldn't be possible that another map just like ours would exist. However, I might send you a PM, if Legolas wants you on the team.. I just don't know what you'll be doing?

Also, a note to you, I have given the STFU Arena project temporairly to the terrainer of the map, DEMANUFACTURE, and given him free hands with the heroes and spells (With directions to where the spell-thread I ran before is, ect). So I wont be working on that until the heroes are done. Then I'll be back to trigger it (The things that are left, I recon about 60%), and make the quests and mini-game complete.

We doubt your map has anything in common with Trade Wars. Was just thinking you could use the name. Hmm after considering what your map does how about calling it Chain of Command. Not very economic sounding but describes the players roles somewhat.

We are looking to join or put together a team but have little interest in doing petty things just to get our name somewhere. If we start or join a project we expect to be putting some serious effort into it. If you don't need that much help we take no offense. GL with your project and we hope to be playing it soon.

I'm sorry, mate. I'd still love to make a map with you :). I'd also like my map on something that actually turns up on B.net so the people that care who made the map, could know it's me. And if ANYONE would have the decency to at least try our map, I think they'd find it can be great great fun if played right. We always argue against eatchother, brainstorming, on what's pratical and fun, and what's not.

Anyway, as I said, I'd be glad to make a map with you :D.
Also, I do appriciate your ideas for names, but I was thinking I'd like a name with Saga in it, and Economic Empire is just what you run, so... Economic Empire Saga, since there's several, and usualy will be a long game, at least that's what I was thinking when my notepad opened up and wanted me to save it with a name. I'll talk to LegolasArcher about that later, thanks yet again.
