Hey guys, this is a new thread in the proppper forum (the last one died out :() Anyway, GODSTL is a remake of black and white, but with some added features. You are the god of a town, which is AI controlled. If you have influance of 75 or more, when you select a unit from this town, it comes under your control, and you can command it to do things. Gods also has some new resources (housing and water), aswell as some edited others (gold, lumber, food). If you do not have enough housing for all of your people, the have a +75% chance to get the plauge. Water/Food are decreased slowly, as people need it. Every 5-10 seconds any unit that you own will require water. Each unit will take 1 water every 5-10 seconds, so you need to keep it in supply (get it from wells). Food is more automatic. For every farm you have, you will get 4 food every 20 seconds. Every 45 seconds, your food is run through a formula (required food - current food). If that is a negetive number, your food is set to 0, and you get get negetive number inverted as a starvation rate. Starvation makes your people weaker, and if you get a 100% starvation rate, all your people will die. Lumber is another edited resource, it is gotten by harvesters which are instantly trained when you build a lumber mill. These harvesters are unselectable, but can be attacked. They bring lumber back to the mill, which then gives it to you. Gold is gained through taxes. You will get (taxrate x population) gold every 40 seconds. Taxrate can be set freely, but there is a penalty for every point you change it by. For every point changed, you recieve 0.25 less food, and 10 less lumber per trip, because some of it needs to be sold. If you make your taxes high enough, you can loose your resources from your pocket. Gods has creatures as well. They are computer controlled, but can be influanced. They currently have a very basic AI (they just run to wherever your attacking). Every level they gain they get 1.25 of their previeous size. This means at level 10 you can have a huge creature. Creatures can also be taught spells. If they are close enough to your temple when you cast a spell, they will learn a % of it. The closer they are, the more they learn. :) I think thats all the main points of the game. If i remember anything else, I'll post it. Please post suggestions/comments/criticisms here. I'll take everything into considderation. |

Was thinking of doing a map like this called Divinity. Like yours it would use AI controlled towns and the player would have to exert influence to get control over units. It would play more like a MMORTS ver of populace than B&W though. looking forward to how yours turns out. Ours should be a while since we have 3 maps in progress right now (Nexus, Revenge II and High Seas) and want to finish them before we even get started on Divinity. |
