help making a "ray" of lightning for my movie...

I haven't spent much time on this, but is there a way I could make a long-lasting ray of lightning chase a unit? I tried altering the Siphon Mana spell using the chain lightning model, which is cast on an invisible marker to make the ray move across the ground towards a unit. Another unit in the air is casting the ray and persuing the ground unit from the air, bringing the ray across the ground towards the ground unit. (You may want to read that again. emote_sweat) but for some reason the ray is only present for a split second. I made a trigger that makes the ability cast every 0.50 seconds, but the ray still visibly vanishes and reappears every second. This isn't a huge deal but I doesn't look as good. :nono:

EDIT: If I shorten the periodic event number, the ray cant been seen at all because it casts too fast. :(

Same Idea as you had before but minor change.

Instead of siphon mana use a unit that has lighting attack (ablity) and chimera lighting. Then order it to attack your invisible unit to make it look like the lighting is moving across the ground. The unit attacking shouldnt be moving (so make it a building if you can) and set its damage really low.

Alternatily still using siphon mana, just increase the duration of the ablity to however long you need it to last and only active it once.

I need the unit to move. I'd already tried increasing the cast time but it didn't work. emote_sweat

I guess I could always use triggers to make the unit move, but that takes too long. :(

You could make an invisible unit and have attach a few cinematic Lightnings until it looks like a stream.

That wouldn't work right...

This is just a thougth, but, special effects?
