After reading a couple tutorials involving confusing and unnecessarily difficult ways to have your hero have more then 8 skills, I had already used this in my map and thought it was pretty easy to do, but I guess people just haven't thought of it. A Multi-Paged Spellbook. It can also be turned into a regular hero skill very easily so its easier to access but this tutorial will be on if its an item. Step 1: Take the "Spellbook" Item Ability already built-in to the game, copy and paste it so that its under "Custom". Rename it to "Magic Spell Book" or something, so its easier. Step 2: Take the Spellbook ITEM, Copy and Paste it and give it the model of a Tome, so it looks neater. Also rename it to Magic Spell Book, so its easier. Step 3: Now, edit your Magic Spell Book ability to make it contain Mininum spells 10, Maximum spells 10. Now, delete the three that are already there (or don't) and add 9 different abilities to it. Step 4: Now, copy the "Magic Spell Book" Ability and call it "Turn to Page 2" and give it to the spell list in the "Magic Spell Book" Ability. Step 5: Edit the "Turn To Page 2" Ability to give it 10 minumum spells and 10 maximum spells, and delete the ones that are there and add 9 different spells to it. Step 6: Now copy the "Turn To Page 2" Ability, and call it "Turn to Page 3" and delete all the spells from it, and replace with 10 spells. Now, you should have this A Magic Spellbook Item. A Skill called "Magic Spellbook" with 9 skills in it, and a skill called "Turn to Page 2" in it, and inside of that 9 skills, and a skill called "Turn to Page 3" and inside that there should be 10 spells. So basicly, you have a Spellbook ability inside a spellbook ability inside a spellbook ability. 3 Pages of Spells. (Note: Add the Magic Spellbook Ability you created to the Item, otherwise you'll have the old Spellbook ability.) !!IMPORTANT!! YOU CAN NOT TURN THE PAGE BACK, TO TURN THE PAGE BACK YOU MUST HIT THE CANCEL BUTTON AND GO BACK INSIDE THE BOOK. IF YOU TRY TO ADD A "TURN PAGE BACK" ABILITY, IT CRASHES THE GAME. I've tried. Well. Hope this is helpful. :santa: :santa: :santa: |

Nice Idea, But most people dont have that many spells to put in a spell book. |

Game-play wise, that's probably way too many; even 11 spells in a spell book is going to be unwieldy. On my map, I've got 4 hero skills and 2-4 spellbook skills per character, and that's more that enough to work with for an RPG. Unless the character had a specific schtick (like a voudon that placed lots of hexes and totems), players aren't going to make much use of 30+ skills per character; it'll be real confusing. |

Did you include HOW to "turn the page" with the spell "Turn the page"? I think you missed something here? Regards Dead-Inside |

A demo map would be nice for people to avoid any misunderstandings. |

I was making an Roleplay map (scrapped, about like, 6 friggin' months ago.://// ) when I thought of making an all-purpose store which morphed into different crap. It morphed into a weapons shop, a potions shop and all that junk. So...just felt like saying that for no real reason what-so-ever. :Heh: |

It is possible (I think) to make a "turn the page back" ability you just need to use triggers. When a person clicks on the "go to the next page" store what page they're on. When you want to turn the page back, use the UI - cancel action (have a trigger) and then order the unit to use the proper next page ability (for the previous page) If that doesn't work, then you can order the unit to use the spellbook page 1 then spellbook page 2 etc until you get to 1 less than the page you're at. Unless, of course, there are issues with opening spellbooks with triggers...I haven't tried it myself. |
