Yeah...I'm a newb at skinning. I followed the tutorial on this site by pencilgod, and I think I did everything right, but after I save my edited skin in Paint Shop Pro 8 as a .tga, I can't import it back into the Image Extractor and change it back into a .blp. So I'm pretty much screwed. Help please? |

i think you need to convert it to 32 bit color or sumthin like that |

I think this is an issue of PSP8. 32-bit means that the image has 24-bit RGB and 8-bit alpha. I remember something about PSP, but I can't recall it... |

Is there any other way that I could convert the file without opening it in Image Extractor after I edited it? |

Ok, I got warcraft 3 viewer and it converted my .tga to .blp. But now I can't get my .blp to convert intl .mdl so i can put it into my map. |

you dont need to make a "skin" a .mdl and mdl file is a model file. a skin needs to be in blp form.. |

Then how can I put the skin into the map? |

If you have TFT, simply import the skin with the import Manager, and change the skins path name to the skin you want to change it with... If you dont have TFT, I guess you will have to do this with WinMPQ. |

example... lets say you wanted to change the death knight skin... (my human death knight download) 1. you import it as a .BLP into your map using TFT Import manager.. 2. since the ORIGINAL skin is located in Units\Undead\HeroDeathKnight\HeroDeathKnight.BLP you take YOUR skin and change the Custom Pathfile or something, and you put the same thing, Units\Undead\HeroDeathKnight\HeroDeathKnight.BLP. 3. YOUR new skin will override the OLD skin, leaving you with the same unit with a different skin. 4. if you want .mdl, then you need a special program that allows you to make custom models (which, ive seen screen shots) seem VERY VERY VERY DIFFICULT, ANNOYING(u know, tedious), and CONFUSING(for noobs). I think this should be in the tuturials or something... i dunno |
