well i was thinking to post a map with my "elemental reloaded" skin and anothers that i made and i made a map for it (small beta) i imported the skins (those skins took me a lot of hard work) and i protected the map .... but i want to test the security of the protector, so i used W3M Map Utilities v2.35 with the most high lvl protection and try to load the map in world editor.. and wel,l the security works perfect.. BUT i found a way.. to extract the imported files... :nono: , its a very weird security hole.... i cant say it in public because i know about some people would like to steal some skins or models.. and that sux.. so if u r going to release a beta map or something... think it better.. if u dont belive me post a map full protected and i will open it and extract stuffs... so u have 2 options... get a better protector (i guess its impossible) or wait until this is fixed... any 1 knows about how to contact the maker of the W3M Map Utilities v2.35 tool???? Note: Im not callin every 1 "map ripers" but i know that some people like to steal stuffs and put their names on it.. like some maps that i made b4... :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: |

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I thought all maps had to be openable by WinMPQ. If the models and skins are corrupted by the compression, the game can't recognize them. Meaning that no model is truly safe from extraction, since the only thing you can do to them is rename them to some gibberish string. |

Heavylocker removes both the listfile, and the imported data file, so it will at least take care of the skins making them look like file546.blp, that's the maximum protection you can give to a skin, and there will be always a way to extract a skin, mostly because the game needs to use the skin files (duh!) So please forget about that, who cares on skins anywayz |
