I'm making this Open RPG, and blah, blah, blah. Enough about that. I'm wondering if it is possible to give the heros more than 5 hero abilities? HERO abilities, not Unit abilitys. And so that they are selectable in the Hero-Menu, not by triggers, etc (I kno how to do that). Clearign out the useless icons I know how to do myself. (Who uses "Stop" anyway?) I want the map to be user-firendly. (When considering the intelligence of the average WC3-player. I've played more than 1 game where the players don't understand how to select a hero... Telling them to learn spells by doing this and that WILL be too much for them.) |

No... Just.. No. I would suggest messing around with spellbook abilities as they are really the only practical workaround to this limitation. In fact they are pretty versatile anyway since spells don't get upgraded, you can still cast the lower level versions. |

You can always use triggers. When a unit learns a skill, you pop a dialog and spell names? :D But those aren't hero spells...So, no.....Pray for blizzard to allow it in 1.3 |

I wouldn't count on it - where would the skills go? 4 hero skills, a spellbook skill and another all purpose skill is more than enough for any one character to have. That's 4+1+11=16 abilities on one unit, plus 6 item slots. By the time you completely fill all of your heroes 11 spellbook ability slots, 1.13 will probably have arrived. |

Actully it's possible, but say you have an ability and you want it to have levels, you'd have to use dialogs or some otehr form for the player to select that skill, then youud have to make the skill and theird be Bloodlust Level 1, Bloodlust Level 2 and so on, they wouldn't technicly be hero abilities, but uuseing triggers to remove and insert abilities it would be possible. |

I'm using that system in The Hordes of Darkness (see sig). Every hero has two unique hero skills that go to level 5, and his four other ability slots are unused. By clicking each ability slot, the player chooses a spell out of about 10/slot to occupy it. To level up, learn and use these abilties, I use a dialogue system. It is buggy, but it works very well. |

And I who never bothered to learn dialogue triggers... I guess I'll just mess around with the terrain, and the other triggers, 'till I bother to learn how to do it. I was really just wondering if it was possible. Acually... I haven't even started making the Heros yet (Got, out of lack of a better word, 'blueprints' for many heros, though) Thanks for the advice. |
