How can you make custom icons from scratch?

Ive never actualy done custom icons but its just like everything else. There are several differnt ways to go about it.

1) draw it strait into photoshop/psp or whatever program you use

2) create the outline using vector, import into whatever program and color and texture it

3) draw by hand then scan into the computer then add color and texture

Just use photoshop for everthing, you dont even need anything but ps to make icons. I made this icon in about 2 minutes from scratch.

Why do you think everyone has ps? i have psp

That was the first way of how to do it on my list. That isnt always the best way, I gave alternate ways because often when things are done strait into photoshop/psp the shape comes out uneven and not all that good. Although strait into photoshop/psp is my favorite method its not for everyone.
