------ THE MASTER CONTEST! ------

This is a contest coupled with all the artistry techniques: Concept Art, Modeling and Skinning. Not only constrained to concept art anymore. And no, it's not going to fall short.

The concept art for the Warlock Season has been already chosen and the model has been already made.
Now you'll have to compete if you want to achieve victory, skinning the model that was developed.

Let me explain about the entire contest.

There will be four seasons, each corresponding to each race of the Warcraft 3 world.

- Warlock Season: Featuring Undead
- Warchief Season: Featuring Orcs
- Warlord Season: Featuring Humans
- Warden Season: Featuring Night Elves

Let me enlighten this. The participants will have to skin the model that will be showed. It's not that the skinners will have to follow the drawing that will be showed exactly as the concept artist made, but he should be yet loyal to it. The texture should be properly added in the unit and showed in game as a wc3 unit.
The best skin will win the respective season.

PRIZES:

The prizes will be mysterious to the participants. But they'll surely receive a signature picture regarding the wined season and 500 points (each winner).
There will be three master winners (Artist, Modeller and Skinner). The Master Winners are the ones who win as the best in all the seasons. His prize will be VERY shining… Although it's not as grandiose as the community contest. NO MONEY as prize, I mean.

JUDGES:

Me and nicoli_s.

RULES:

1 – No plagiarize. Once someone does it, he will be excluded of the contest. If you know wheter somebody is plagiarizing, please report it.

2 – NO COPY-AND-PASTE!

3 – The models should check all the Warcraft 3 BLP Texture requirements.

4 – You should post a screenshot with the model in game, with many angles so judges can examine the model.

6 - If you have more than one model, post it, BUT only if the next drawing is better than the old one. If you post a "not that good" model and you want to give a better entry, do it. But if you posted a great model and decided to post another one that isn't that great, well then sorry, because the old one is not anymore not anymore acceptable!

THREAD RULES:

1 – ——————NO SPAMMING———————. ANYONE who keeps spamming after 3 warnings will be banned from Wc3c for a while.

2 – No flaming in your comments. If you are critiquing somebody's skin, please be kind, not offending anyone. Or else…same thing as above.

3 – No arguing. If somebody has offended you, use private messages. Any arguing that begins will be instantly uprooted.

4 – Don't post off-topic. (Off-topic will be deleted, also)

5 - No double posts.

6 – Please, post fruitful arguments. Don't post everything that just comes up to your mind.

7 - Nothing besides the subjected artistic category may be posted here.

I cant open the model in WC3 viewer.

Do ihave to use WC3 to view the model?

yoda_24
its just burntancient.blp and hangingfstuff.blp (directly in your warcraft 3 folder)

edit: this still causes wc3 viewer to crash but thats the path as I saw it in the mdl file.

edit edit: the other texture it lists is: Textures\Clouds8x8.blp

edit edit edit: Ok, doesnt work. No idea why. Guess I'll wait until someone who knows what they are doing comes... :)

After thinking "god, its a tree how creative can you get with the freakin tree" I started working on the skin and made a leet looking arm... then spent 10 minutes trying to get it go actually work in either world edit or wc3viewer... no luck.

So other people do not waste their time trying to make it work (unless you actually know how) here is what did not work:

1) converted to mdl to check the texture paths.

2) extracted the textures to the right place. (still didnt work)

3) extracted the cloud8x8 texture from war3x.mpq into a folder. (still didnt work)

4) gave up (still didnt work)

Hi
I was the one who made that model.
There is nothing wrong with the model, it might not work with the wc3 viewer I haven't tested it with that one.
It might happen that wc3 viewer because the .mdx file is a little different because it's exported with the new art tools and not with Dex that we used when the viewer was made.

Just import the model into the map or a mpq.

The texture path are:

just BurntAncient.blp nothing in front and nothing behind

just HangingStuff.blp nothing in front and nothing behind

The last texture is a Blizzard texture that I used for the particle effect don't mind about this one.

Let me know if you can't make it work at all after reading this post.

ah ha... got it to work. like the chaosy firey hand thing...

Edit: can we change the color of the particle effect?

Edit Edit: There is one slight problem. When I alpha'd out part of the hanging stuff texture, it did not disappear.

Okay. Done... well not completely. I'm gonna fix the mouth and the purple stuff is alpha'd out but it is obviously still there. Took 2 hours.

You want the BLPs right TheLord?

Ohh sorry
I forgot one thing in the material, convert the model into a .mdl and edit the Second material so that it looks like this.

Quote:
Material {
Layer {
FilterMode Transparent,
TwoSided,
static TextureID 1,
}
}
