Annoying Idiosyncrasy

This is pretty much an informative post.

I've found a strange problem with selection events, conditions, and actions.

If you use them, they will eventually cause a strange lag that makes your units 'lag.' Not conventional lag, though. They won't respond to your orders; your orders will be received by a unselected unit... Basically, it will become a danger to the map if it goes on too long..

I remember quite a few AoS type maps that had the problem of your hero would A: stop responding to orders or B: be automatically deselected. This is the kind of lag I'm talking about...

Way to fix it? Ehh... Weird workarounds. Avoid large quantities of selection-type events, conditions, and actions. Any reference to them may cause a small bit of this lag, or a game-destroying lag.

Note that this lag will not appear playing solo. It will ONLY appear when playing with 2 or more people (not computers, people).

I am not quite positive, but this may also be the cause for the unresponding heroes in Fuza's TS. After a period of playing, at least 1 person (who hasnt left already) loses the ability to tell their hero to do anything, and sharing unit control does not change it.

well, in game to fix it you just pick another unit then it should work but why it happens :bgrun:

We use that in our Nexus map. We do it to limit user control over spawned units. Your only supposed to be able to control your hero and we ran out of player slots.

We did notice some of those things. Sometimes a hero would stop for a second and not respond. It wasn't too bad but it gets irritating after a while. Overall the system works well but if we could remove the pauses that would be great.

So what kinds of work-arounds do you use for this?

Lord Vexorian: from what I've seen, just about ANYTHING that deals with selection will cause it... I may be wrong though.

Hivemind: Work-arounds are situation specific. Some don't have a really good workaround..

Luckily, I was able to switch mine from 'waiting to select another unit' into 'use an ability on another unit and find the one that was targeted'

Yours is different, so I really couldn't give any good advice.
