Guest | I just thought I'd throw this out there. Reciently, I've had the pleasure of playing a Playstation 2 game titled, Dynasty Warriors 3. Now, don't quote me on that title as I may be mistaken. The peculiar and interesting thing about this game is that you (the player) control only one man in a epic scale battle scene. Now, when you look at Warcraft 3, the game contains the potential to be shaped in this direction. A player could simply control a 'super' unit (known as heroes to all of us who actively play Warcraft 3) while a larger battle takes place around them. Control of the grunts, footmen and other small-fry units would be left to an A.I. giving the player the opportunity to focus entirely on the actions of their character. The appeal to this is that, in a game such as Warcraft 3, the prescense of a hero in a battle can upset the balance of said battle, with the ultimate potential of turning the enemy momentum. I fear that I have left everyone wondering "what is he talking about?" So I will restate this. Create a multiplayer map. The player selects their hero and takes their place on the battle field. As in traditional 'hero' maps, the player controls only the hero. Then, at a set time, the armies in the map, that are controlled by the computer, begin to move. The players are on one side of the army and must use their heroes to augment that armies performance. Each army has a goal, which directly effects the player. If an enemy army succeeds in taking a town, then the player's lose, so they better use their heroes to defend that town. If the enemy commander is killed, then the players win, so that too is on the agenda. Basically, the A.I. will wage war against each other with ground troops leaving the players to focus their attention on how they use their hero in battle. Finally, remember that the enemy also has hero units that can change the tide of battle as well. I think that if this was created in a Warcraft 3 map and/or MOD that the resultant map would be fun to play. I know I had fun playing the original Dynasty Warriors 3, and I know that Warcraft 3 has the potential to fufill the requirements set by such a game. Finally, this is just an idea for all you map-makers to review and decide wether or not you want to pursue it. It, by no means is set in stone. And, I hope this idea can serve as some sort of basis for said map-makers own future developments. |

Guest | I get what your saying, but I've never played Dynasty Warriors 3 therfore my knowledge upon making a clone map of it would be rather impossible, but..I think your saying something like a twisted Aeon Of Strife 1 type game? |

Guest | The basic soldier that runsa round and fights is rather pitiful if you asks me. The onl real people to fear are lu bu and cao cao. I'm sure this could be done, myabe by making triggers? Im not sure, because im not really good with triggers. I could possibly help with the map making process. I am not sure about any time for myself this week, but i may be able to next week. |

Guest | Well, much to my suprize, someone has already created some Dynasty Warriors maps. They're already circulating around Battle.net (not to say that I've played said maps, but, they're there). So, now I wonder if anyone out there has one of those maps, and if they do, I'd like to know where I could download it for myself. I'm curious to see how things have been implemented, and if they went about things in the direction that I thought it could go. |

I haven't played those maps but I did have plans on making a DW3 map. However, land height constraints (possibly remedied by Zepir's editor?) make it too unlike a DW3 map for me. Things such as having high castle walls is somewhat unattainable and you have to be able to walk around on those walls and hop off. If you are going to attempt this go full tilt or it wont be worth it. I figured out pretty much everything but the land height pissed me off so I stopped. |
