Aeon of Strife

The AoS map was the first of it's kind to be created back in the early days of RoC (Reign of Chaos: pre-expansion WC3). It was actually quite different from current AoS maps. The short phrase is used to describe all maps in the genre.

AoS maps are where two teams of players pick a hero and assist a computer-controled ally assault the opposing team's base. Of course, the opposing team is trying to do the same.

The ultimate goal is to destroy the opposing base's Castle, which is located in it's heart. First team to destroy the Castle wins.

lies. the first AOS was mutch like hero siges, onyl oen side had heros. it was for STARCRAFT! it sdtanbds for aeon of strife.

the opriginal AoS was made a logn tiem ago BEFOR WC3 was even in beta. how do i know?! I PLAYED IT!

it was a good map. well balanced in most vers. bit hard for a noob.

it was ORIGINALY a one sided heros vs attackers map for sc, noow its an overused namne on massive amounts of crapy noobish maps (not ALL are crapy and noobish - the big chill for example.)

now DOTA was an awsome AoS (wc style aos) for Rain of Chaos, now it got cracked and is in 1000'd vers, most crappy.

Yes, and if you ever played starcraft or at least read the manual, you would have seen in the protoss section something called Aeon of Strife... hmmm sounds familiar. In my opinion, it is far better than any of the "AoS" maps for warcraft 3. The original DotA is probably the closest to it in overall goodness. It was about the protoss civil war before they became "enlightened". You would choose a hero and there were 4 lines going horizonally down the map. Each side had bases and tanks and stuff on the hills between the lines and on the lines. In the middle, there were already warriors fighting and some scattered throughout the lines. Every so often there would be "ambushes" on a line where more enemy units would appear suddenly. There was an instant heal spot in the base and if you died, you died for good. When you killed enemy units, you would gain gold which you could use to buy upgrades for your "hero's" armor and attack. I personally liked the zergling because of its speed, small size, and ability to burrow. The archon was fun for its splash damage but you could get stuck with it.

I was once telling someone about the original aos because they said it was for warcraft and they said something like "omg thats hero seige u r teh n00b"... so i squelched him...

My mistake, although you don't have to call me a liar, Earth Fury. There is a difference between lying and being mis-informed. As far as I know I played the first AoS for Warcraft 3.

Interesting to see how the old SC Aos style one side heroes vs comp would work out in wc...
