I am just curious on how all of you got into modeling and are so good now. How and when did you start and what did you do to get so good? I just got into modeling but still need to learn the basics |

i started modeling when i was 9(4 years ago). I got interested in it because i was visiting msn groups daily, and saw some interesting facts about milkshape... then my brotheres friend, started using milkshape, and i wanted to try it too, so i downloaded it, and started modeling guns out of cubes. Next year when i got good at modeling, i was recruited for a project that used their own engine, but soon ended because the shortage of staff. Same year i started modeling for bf1942, for my mod, WW III mod. Then i took notice that a member of our mod was making such awsome guns, and he wasn't using milkshape, so i found out about 3dsmax, and downloaded the trial, at first, i hated it, i was so frustarated!! i didn't know how to rotate a camera, the interface was so weird! That's about the time i got to wc3c, and i saw a mod about ff7, and was interested. Without any tutorials or help, i created my first model, which for some reason brough almost 10 pages of replies to the ff7 thread. I started making for models, and was so into it. Now im in over 15 projects, not to mention i have to upkeep the wc3c magazine :D |

Wow. I first modelled about one year ago. I played dat fun xmen rpg with cool skins, so i was like coool, so then i searched for months then i finally looked in the the forums here ( i had only visisted the old tuts page) i was amazed. So i started milkshape. pretty good and simple, but then i moved to wings, seeing as though i was better at it. Then i heard of 3dsm5. I insisted to get it so my dad got it for me ( im not telling how he got it...hehe..) Well we all know most ppl just downloaded 3dsm, theres no denying it just dont discuss it. Now i just got 3dsm5, and proudclods helping me! Thanks cant wait for your tutorial proud! |

I started when my friend told me bout gmax and i downloaded it and did all the tutorials which really helped and then jus started designing my own things and using all sorts of different things and ended up with 3ds max. I would say jus look for a bunch of tutorials and things online to start learning and then when u think you are good enough start making your own models. :D |
