.w3x (Just as Starcraft .scm and .scx). Anyhow, I don't think that's what he meant, or? Because if you zipped it in to a .bak file, which I am guessing you could have done, search google for something to unzip it? Regards Dead-Inside |

bak is not a compression format.. it's just a renamed file, it can be anything, in this case your BAK is a renamed W3X |

i hate to say it, but u'r map may be lost for good because of lousy protection...that's why i never protect my maps :)) |

Well aint you stupid then :P. Always, always... Keep several copies of your map. For whatever reason. I currently have about 7 versions of the map I am currently working on. The first few is only terrain, the later ones are with triggers. Anyway, always have backups so that you can restore your work with very little loss, if it should come to that some trigger gets WE to refuse to open the map or something else, like your protection. Also always make a copy of your map, and protect the COPY. Regards Dead-Inside |

i also forgot to mention that i rarely upload my maps :)) i just make them and maybe send them to some LAN party, and about 20 ppl play it.....and since none of them has a WE crack, cuz i know they don't have original WC, and i give them the map on a 1.44mb diskette, i don't need any protection, and i have that 1.44mb space limit, but most of the time my maps come out about 500kb with some minor importing...... |

.bak files should be a backup file. when a program wants to back up a file alot of times they copy it cand nam eit name.bak. I would try renaming it both name.wc3 and name.wcx |

tried that already :( i named it .w3x and it didnt work |

Are you sure it changed the extension? Windows sucks and will sometimes put the name of the file from <mapname>.bak, you will try to rename it and you will end up with <mapname>.w3x.bak, just make sure the icon turns to a war3 campaign image. If it did work properly, you are probably screwed. What is the .w3b file you were saying? I can't remember what that file holds, but maybe it has somethign to do with unlocking it? hrmm |
