Im kinda new to these forums so im not sure if this is part of it so sorry if i am doing something wrong just tell me. This is an idea for my next map... Its a defence where you build a city to make units. The more buildings you have the more food you get, or the more units u can spawn. There will be 30 levels every 6 will be air (not sure on the armor levels yet). There will be 3 halls each giving certain upgrades for heros/units/ or buildings that can be made. Thats kinda a brief explanation but tell me what you think :) ty. |

This is the correct forum for map ideas. Your idea seems kinda generic though, to me. Maybe elaborate on what you had in mind for the upgrade system? Do you intend to have a host of custom heroes? Just a couple? What kind of buildings do you make, and can they train units? Or do your units just spawn randomly depending on what you have? Details, I want more details! |

Ok as for heros there will be some not a few not many some a medium amount BUT they will be custom and there will also be items they can buy. Units willl be trained at the town hall(or w/e upgrade on that thee is) depending on the buildings you have you can get more units. The building will be like house big house, tech center, hero hall, town hall and some others but just stuff there would be in a real town exxept thereuse will be altered by me... and if i didnt mention this every different will give a certain amount of food, and thats the key thing about the map. Cause units wont cost much but better units will cost more food... anything else. How good you this the idea is? |

thats the thing... its not a tower defence. The more building you have the more unit you spawn and the units are when defend it. A question... How many hero levels should i have? |

Sounds alright, what exactly are the units defending? A building/hero/leak point? |

Sounds a lot like castle defence. But, i find that players enjoy an element of TD in other maps. My SST map had players defending a fortress in the middle of the map (pretty standard), but people just LOVED building stuff in the game, even if the buildings sucked compared to the units. So my point is, its worth sprinkling an element of building into an established type of game. Don't make it too complex though, i always have a lot of players leave my games because they've no idea wtf is going on :) My second point is that you must deliver quality. Custom spells are interesting but lousy custom spells are boring. Its important to have good tooltips and easy to understand instructions. |

Yea, i plan to have a very easy to use help system and ive already got most of the building and tool tips done. I should hope it isnt to hard to use but the main idea i hoped to put into this map is building a city. Thats the idea i had when i began thinking of this map. But i said what is the point? just to build a city. So then i said why not have attackers and you have to build a city to defend an outpost. I agree kinda with the generic thing but i hope to have horibly massive detail to make up for the idea...
