TopGun	...Is 3ds max/ gmax the only program that can use the art tools? What are the others?

Markus3832	Only 3ds max 4.2 can really use it. 5 can but it is buggy. 6 cannot. Gmax cant either. Really only 3ds Max 4.2 and 5 can... But it was developed for 4.2.

TopGun	Lemme ask a better question... Can I use a free program, i.e. Milkshape or Wings, to make a few neat-looking swords for my War3 Map?

Xaga	Its a Maxscript that imports War3 models into 3ds max/gmax. It can export too

Z3n	get G-max and use the dex script, you can download it from these forums just have a look n you'll see it if not pop on IRC and visit the #dex the guys who created the script are on this channel they may help you if u have any problems, normally there nice guys :D
